SS18 | 9 NEWS ASIA EXPANSION HCP INVEST IN ADDITIONAL MANUFACTURING CAPACITY IN HUAI’AN DURING 2018

With a growing local Asian and International export business, HCP are investing in a large expansion programme on the existing Huai’an manufacturing site. Located in Northern Jiangsu province; Huai’an City borders Anhui Province to the southwest, Yangzhou to the southeast and is 2 hours driving distance to Nanjing - provincial capital of Jiangsu and 4 hours to Shanghai. The layout, designed with a lean manufacturing philosophy in mind, is finalised and construction commenced in March 2018. Adding three new buildings for injection, spraying and warehousing (38,800m2), HCP will invest in 100 new injection moulding machines, installing 40 during 2018 and 6 new finishing spray lines; with a further 60 injection machines to be rolled out annually.

On the 22nd January 2018, HCP Packaging Group held an official ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction of the planned initial phase of a manufacturing expansion project at its Rusi site in Bechhofen, in the district of Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany. Building on a strong by Mr Klaus Sindel and supported by a strong team, HCP plan to further invest and expand Rusi to bring the products made in Bechhofen to HCP’s global customer base.

Part of a multi-year, multi-phase expansion investment, the event was attended by the Deputy County Commissioner of Ansbach, Mr Stefan Horndasch, regional and local dignitaries including the Mayor Mr Helmut Schnotz, the Rusi sales and operations teams, along with senior representatives of HCP’s global management team from France, UK and China.

12 | SS18 The expansion programme involves the addition of two new production buildings on the existing Rusi site and installation of new equipment for injection moulding and decoration of cosmetics packaging, which will increase the existing annual manufacturing capacity by over 60%.

Expected to be fully operational by October 2018, this investment demonstrates HCP’s commitment to make HCP-Rusi Germany the hub of European manufacturing for the long-term, bringing additional employment opportunities to the region.

This strategic growth investment is a further move to better support our customers’ regional sourcing objectives in Europe. The acquisition of Rusi, combined with the innovative capability for high-precision micro-injected components by Paris-based SIMP (acquired by HCP in 2016) and strong mascara expertise in North America and China, HCP can now offer very compelling full-pack mascara solutions worldwide.

The new plant’s construction will incorporate the very latest German energy-efficient technologies.

HCP are incredibly proud to have received two awards at the 39th annual NJPEC Packaging of the Year Awards, held on November 16th 2017 at the Madison Hotel in Convent Station, New Jersey, of which all proceeds from the event will benefit the NJPEC Packaging Scholarship fund. HCP’s new mascara lab based at the Shanghai showroom acts as a research centre to provide flexibility, efficiency and dedication to achieving lash solutions - specifically to meet the Asian markets requirements. Trend analysis shows that consumers in the Asian regions are increasingly adopting beauty trends from the West; particularly the application of mascara to enhance lashes.

HCP are proud to be part of a unique collaboration, ‘Powderful,’ presented at Cosmoprof Bologna

2018, the sixth project to be coordinated by the Cosmopack Factory. The initiative brings together all of the industrial steps in the creation of a luxury beauty product; from concept/design to the most appealing sell-out experience in store. An original concept and design by centdegrés, consisting of HCP’s cool aluminium Magnum pressed powder compact which has been fitted with a full size brush, provided by Pennelli Faro. The ultra-modern geometric insert by Vetraco is filled by Ancorotti Cosmetics and Arsmetallo have provided a metal part to complete the construction. NastriTex Lab have provided the technical ribbon for the back injection to complete the design. For the ‘Powderful’ project, HCP have provided sleek Magnum Pressed Powder compacts, presented with three beautiful finishes: firstly, in glossy gold anodisation to cover and base, with black inner parts and a dynamic shiny black typographic design to the cover. The second version flips the cover and base to a shiny black anodised finish with metallic silver artwork while the third option is a high shine stunning silver anodisation with a crisp white graphic. Each compact mirror is decorated with white type, honouring the partners who have contributed to the project.

HCP’s premium stock Magnum range presents the allure of metal combined with strong shapes, sleek contours and unique decoration possibilities. The unique ‘soft close’ magnetic opening/closing feature and a full size glass mirror in the lid brings an extra luxury feel.
