Almas 2K14-15 03 Almas 2K14-15 04 NCC Seminar on “Drug Abuse in Youth” Raise Your Voice, Not the Sea Level: Environment Day Celebration To prove our commitment towards nature and environment the NCC unit of the College on 5th June 2014 observed the World Environment Day in the campus. To throw light into the catastrophes caused by sea rise and climate change, the NCC unit organised an exhibition on the theme 'Small Islands and Climate Change.' Cadets planted saplings to rise up to the ideal of a green campus. K. M. Abdul Kareem, Principal Al-Ameen College, was the chief guest. The Youth Red Cross Unit of the College, in association with Red Ribbon Club, organized a seminar on the topic “Drug Abuse among Youth” on 12-02-2015 in the Seminar Hall. Dr. Jacob Mannaraprayil Cor-Episcopa, State President, Drug Prohibition Council was the resource person. The Red Ribbon Club in · Seminar on “Positive Speaking” association with Youth Red Cross Unit organized a seminar on “Positive Speaking” on 13-01- 2015 in the seminar hall. The objective of the programme was to enhance the positive attitude Independence Day Celebration among students. Professor. Department of History University of Calicut, Kerala Abstract: The Khilafat movement which started as an international Muslim agitation against the sovereignty of the British colonial forces all over the world had its repercussions in India also, and its effects were felt among the Muslims of Malabar too. The Malabar Rebellion which started as a violent protest against the exploitation of the feudal landlords, who were mostly Hindus and the supporters of the British colonial rule, soon turned into a part of the freedom struggle and gathered momentum. But unfortunately due to the misguided directions of religions leadership what started as a struggle for freedom against oppression and exploitation soon deteriorated into the horrors of a series of communal conflicts. An examination of the Khilafat movement in Malabar would reveal that the Muslims of Malabar began to identify themselves as part of the National Muslim Community only by the dawn of the 20 th century. The political scenario of Malabar from 1920 to 1925 is specifically marked by the life and activities of Muhammed Abdurahiman.     Camping for 4-5 day duration will be regularly carried out at Poovar and Varattukulam. At least 3 to 4 camps will be arranged in these areas each month to ensure proper protection. In other camps at Kolukkan, Eravikulam, Anamudy, Meenthotty and Pettymudy, camps of 3-4 day duration will be carried out. 2-3 camps will be arranged in these areas during a month. Camping and perambulation is to be done every month in Parappayar, Parakkudy and Nooradykudy to ensure protection and keep the boundaries free from illicit activities. This will also help in eco development initiatives and prevent the external interference in tribal settlements, especially in the light of latest challenges in the form of terrorism and nexalitism. The ganja combing operation will be carried out during these perambulations. Additional perambulations will be done in the areas adjoining the Park in the northern, eastern and western boundaries, where there are chances of ganja cultivation. The boundaries with the tea estates at Chattamunnar, Vaguvarai, Kadalar, Rajamala and Pettymudy will be regularly combed for nooses and illicit distillation of liquor. The camps at Poovar, Varattukulam, Kolukkan and Eravikulam will be managed by the staff at Chattamunnar and the camps at Anamudy, Meenthotty and Pettymudy will be managed by staff at Rajamala. The Forester at Chattamunnar will organise the perambulation at Poovar, Varattukulam, Kolukkan and Eravikulam. The Forester at Rajamala will organise camps at Anamudy, Meenthotty, Pettymudy and at Parappayar, Parakkudy and Nooradykudy. The Deputy Rangers will oversee the implementation of protection plan in Eravikulam National Park in areas under their jurisdiction.
