Program Subject to Change,. "Video Culture Canada" festival in Toronto for Tur tle Dreams (Waltz). In 1968 Ms. Monk founded The House, a company dedicated to an interdis ciplinary approach to performance. She formed Meredith Monk and Vocal Ensemble in 1978 to perform her unique vocal compositions. Ms. Monk and her companies have toured extensively across the United States and around the world. Ms. Monk has recorded seven albums-the latest, Do You Be. was recently released on ECM/PolyGram Classics. To celebrate the occasion of her 20th anniversary as a creative force in the performing arts, a major year-long retrospective took place in 1984-85, which included The Games (in collaboration with Ping Chong) opening the Brooklyn Academy of .Music's 1984 NEXT WAVE Festival, her Carnegie Hall debut, a mm/video retrospective at the Whit ney Museum of American Art, and a revival of the Obie Award winning production of Quarry at La Mama. Recently, Ms. Monk travelled to Texas to present an evening of her music with members of the Houston Grand Opera Studio, and to compose a short music/movement sequence for David Byrne's mm True Stories. Last year, she premiered Musicfor Voice & Two Pianos, a duet concert with pianist Nurit Tilles, which toured West Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and the United States. She also presented The Travelogue Series, a collaboration with Ping Chong, at the Joyce Theater in New York City and exhibited Silver Lake With Dolmen Music. a sound installation, at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
