Self Study Report (Ssr) Naac 2015 SELF STUDY REPORT (SSR) NAAC 2015 YODH SINGH NAMDHARI MAHILA COLLEGE DALTONGANJ – 822101 (PALAMU) (A Constituent Unit of Nilamber Pitamber University, Medininagar) 1 Preface Yodh Singh Namdhari Mahila (YSNM) College, Daltonganj was established on 1st August 1968. Started with 60+ students and 7 lecturers in 1968, YSNM College has at present around 4500 students on its roll. Spread over 3.5 acres with more than 35,000 sq.ft. built up area, the college campus is centrally located in the Daltonganj town. YSNM College, Daltonganj is the only Womens Constituent College of Palamu Division. Although a number of Colleges have come of late in different parts of district, yet this Institution has been drawing the students from every nook and corner of Palamu region. Y.S.N.M. college was established with a mission to provide higher education to rural, urban, semi urban, tribal and poor girl students of Palamu region. The college aspires to provide quality education in secure environment to the deprived girls of this backward district. It believes in all round personality development of an individual so that they grow into self-reliant and self confident woman. Being the only government womens college in the region, it caters to the needs of socially, economically and educationally deprived girls of the area and bring them in the mainstream of development. The college by offering various courses and different programmes strongly supports the cause of girl students in generating awareness of their rights and duties. Womens‟ empowerment is one of the basic objective in providing education. This institution aims to create a large resource pool of qualified women who would not only preserve and nurture the traditional values of the Indian society but also contribute towards the growth of the state and country. YSNM College is multi faculty and multi-disciplinary women Institution. Students pursue various UG courses in Humanities, Social Science, Science and Vocational course i.e. Computer Science Hons. From the year 2015, PG courses have been introduced in three subjects: History, Political Science, Psychology and Home Science. Our endeavour is to take Higher Education out of traditional contours and make it more job and market oriented and accessible to all segments of the society. 2 Executive Summary- The SWOC analysis of the institution STRENGTHS: Driven by our mission statement of imparting knowledge to all Harmonious relationship among the members of the administration , staff, students and parents Well qualified and dedicated faculty Student centered teaching High success rates in examinations Excellence in sports Wide range of extension, co-curricular and extra –curricular activities Student friendly services Optimum utilization of resources Eco- friendly premises WEAKNESS: A major chunk of students come from low income group. Although the college tries its best within its limited financial resources to attract such students by providing free education, however, poverty still remains the main hurdle to be combated. Limitation of space Diverse student community Limitation of funds Research work in nascent stage 3 OPPORTUNITIES: Locational advantage of becoming a model womens college in a backward region. To increase the rate of employability by establishing academia- industry linkage in line with the market demand. Economy of the area is more or less dependent on agriculture and NRM produced in the area. Thus, there is scope for various small scale and allied Industries. There is wide scope for tourism sector as the famous Betla Tiger Reserve, Lod Fall are situated in the vicinity of the institution. A course on tourism can be introduced, which will be beneficial to students of this area. However, we have been uploading annual data on AISHE portal (www.aishe.gov.in) since 2011. 8 CRITERION WISE INPUT Criterion 1: Curricular Aspects Vision: “To reform educational spectrum and revitalize its spirit by providing quality education resulting in the development of competent and conscientious Human Resource to face the Emerging Challenges at Global Level”. Mission: To develop academic excellence by building competence for community service. To foster independent thinking in students by offering academic atmosphere congenial for metamorphosis of a novice into seer and sage. To facilitate advance scholarship by offering innovative programmes. To empower the students by exploring their hidden potential. To ensure safety of heritage, culture and environment by creating awareness amongst the stakeholders. Objectives: In line with the vision & mission, the college focuses to ensure access, equity & excellence so as to enable its pass outs to meet the challenges of the new millennium. The institution is aware of the challenges of Information, Communication & Technology (ICT). It has started vocational programme in Bachelors of Computer Science for better employability. The curriculum or the syllabus is prepared by the University. HODs of various departments in consultation with Board of Undergraduate Studies at University meet periodically and review the syllabi of various subjects and evaluate relevance of course contents.

    Kanhar Barrage Project, Jharkhand: Kanhar barrage project envisages construction of a barrage on river Kanhar near village Khuri under Ranka Block of Garhwa district in Jharkhand, around 12 km downstream of proposed dam site at Baradih. River Kanhar is one of the major right bank tributary of river Sone. The total catchment area up to its confluence with river Sone is 5903 km2, and total length is 218 km. It originates from the northern slopes of Vindhya Ranges at Gidha‐Dhoda on the Khudia plateau in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh at an altitude of EL. 990m. It initially flows north forming the boundary with Garhwa district in Palamu division of Jharkhand and Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. Subsequently, it runs parallel to river Sone in Garhwa and turns north‐west and flowing through Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. It confluences with river Sone near village Kota in Dudhi Tehsil. The catchment area upto proposed barrage at village Khuri is 3375 sq‐km. The project envisages irrigating the area of Garhwa district and some villages of Palamu district in chainpur block only. It is to be noted that Garhwa is a draught prone zone and deprived of assured irrigation in the area. The existing reservoirs in the district are mostly water deficit being fed by limited catchment. The Kanhar Barrage Project, Jharkhand was considered by the Advisory Committee of MoWR, RD&GR on Irrigation, Multipurpose and Flood Control Projects in its 135th Meeting held at New Delhi on 12th March, 2018. The project was accepted by the Advisory Committee of MoWR,RD&GR for an estimated cost of Rs.

Paudyal and John Peterson* How one language became four: the impact of different contact-scenarios between “Sadani” and the tribal languages of Jharkhand https://doi.org/10.1515/jsall-2021-2028 Published online May 4, 2021 Abstract: Four Indo-Aryan linguistic varieties are spoken in the state of Jharkhand in eastern central India, Sadri/Nagpuri, Khortha, Kurmali and Panchparganiya, which are considered by most linguists to be dialects of other, larger languages of the region, such as Bhojpuri, Magahi and Maithili, although their speakers consider them to be four distinct but closely related languages, collectively referred to as “Sadani”. In the present paper, we first make use of the program COG by the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) to show that these four varieties do indeed form a distinct, compact genealogical group within the Magadhan language group of Indo- Aryan. We then go on to argue that the traditional classification of these languages as dialects of other languages appears to be based on morphosyntactic differences between these four languages and similarities with their larger neighbors such as Bhojpuri and Magahi, differences which have arisen due to the different contact situations in which they are found. After critical observation it was identified as Rivina humilis L. It is reported as a new distributional plant record as well as family for Palamu Division of Jharkhand. A detailed description with photograph, notes on occurrence and distribution of this taxon are provided for easy identification. INTRODUCTION: Linnaeus in 1753, recognized genus Rivina and since then several species have been recognized by various workers, giving special emphasis to morphological plasticity in vegetative as well as reproductive characters. The genus Rivina is named after A.Q. Rivinus, Professor of Botany and Medicine at Leipzig 1691-1725 (Ghosh and Sikdar 1983). Rivina humilis L. belongs to the family Phytolaccaceae is a native of America extending from Grgentina to Southern U.S.A .It has been widely introduced to other countries and has become naturalized in much of Pacific and a small number of countries in Africa and Asia. and is now widespread throughout in tropics and subtropics (Dequan, 2003; Tseng et al., 2008; Mabberley, 2008). In many countries (Walter, 1909). Rivina is monotypic genus and treated with a single species, R. humilis (Dequan, 2003; Mabberley, 2008 ).

Important pre yr q & current affairs Jharkhand-At a Glance Jharkhand ie 'Jhar' or 'Jhad', which is synonymous with forest in local language and Khand which means composed of 'small parts’. According to its name, It is basically a forest region that is created as a result of the Jharkhand movement. Due to abundance of minerals it is also called 'Ruhr' of India, which is a well known mineral dominant region in Germany. The Adivasi Mahasabha, formed around 1930s under the leadership of Jaipal Singh Munda, dreamed of a separate Jharkhand state first. In the year 2000, on 15th of November (the birth anniversary of the tribal hero Birsa Munda),Government of India created new state Jharkhand and thus became 28th state of India. Jharkhand was formed by carving out the southern part of Bihar Industrial city Ranchi is its capital. Other major cities of this state include Dhanbad, Bokaro and Jamshedpur. Jharkhand share its boundary with Bihar in the north, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the west, Odisha in the south and West Bengal in the east.

One of the significant reasons for environmental degradation in the study area could be ascribed to quick development of population which is antagonistically influencing the natural resources and condition. The developing population and the ecological weakening face the test of maintained improvement without natural harm. The presence or the nonattendance of ideal characteristic assets can encourage or hinder the procedure of economical development. Population is an important source of development, yet it is a major source of environmental degradation when it exceeds the thresh hold limits of the support systems. Unless the connection between the multiplying population and the existence emotionally supportive network can be settled, improvement programs, howsoever, imaginative are not prone to yield wanted outcomes. Migration impacts on the environment primarily through the use of natural resources and production of wastes and is associated with environmental stresses like loss of biodiversity, air and water pollution and increased pressure on arable land.
