Synopsis Xin Yi, Dr.-Ing, is Associate Professor in Department of Urban Planning, School of Architecture, Southeast University of Nanjing and Postdoc Researcher in the Wissenszentrum Weihenstephan, Chair of Strategic Landscape Planning and Management, Technische Universität München. Xin Yi makes his research in urban planning and urbanism with emphasis on knowledge-based urban development and urban transition in contemporary in Chinese cities, which relates comprehensive

1 transformation in institutional, political, economic and cultural fields. He developed a special interest in adaptation strategies between identity building and city marketing in the host of mega-events for urban development.

Xin Yi has broad experiences in international research and has taken part in a series of projects in urban planning, urban design and architectural design. He has been invited to give several academic lectures on the host of Olympic Games for the urban development in Chinese and European cities.
