Dear All Saints Catholic School Band Members and Parents,

Welcome back! This will be an outstanding year of musical learning. Our yearly calendar can be found on the front side of this document. The All Saints Catholic School Band is intended to serve as a positive musical experience for all members. The All Saints Catholic School Band Program creates experiences and opportunities to perform throughout the school year, and through competitions. Student work throughout the school year is evaluated based on rehearsals and performances. As we grow together, it is vital that all students support a safe, and patient learning environment. It is our goal to prepare diligently for all performances, and that students can enjoy demonstrating what they rehearse in class.

Band Goals and Objectives Students in All Saints Catholic School Bands will:

● Learn how to properly assemble and care for their instrument ● Play basic melodies ● Understand how to break down rhythmic patterns ● Identify key signatures ● Be introduced to music notation/composition ● Develop the technique of ear training and improvisation ● Perform in 2 concerts ● Optional events (Milwaukee Admirals Game, Six Flags Music in the Parks)

Grading ● Standards-Based Assessment and Grading (SBAG) will be used on semester basis per the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. ● All assessments are based on Band goals and objectives (see above).

General Rules and Procedures ● Always properly assemble, and care for your instrument ● Never touch another student’s instrument ● Be patient and positive with your musical progress, and those around you ● Concert Bands will meet on Tuesday and Thursday. Students need to come prepared with their music, practice logs, instrument, pencil, and correct reeds or oils. ● Follow directions, stay focused and work hard during class. ● No gum is allowed in the Band Room. ● Please see pages 33-38 in the Parent Handbook regarding discipline and expectations.
