In the nearby village of Poundsgate is the popular Tavistock Inn and about 4½ miles away is the moorland town of Ashburton, which possesses an excellent selection of local amenities. Communications From Leusdon there is easy access off the moor, via Poundsgate and the Dart Valley, to the A38 dual carriageway at Ashburton, leading west to Plymouth and east to the university and cathedral city of Exeter. At Exeter there is access onto the M5 motorway, an international airport and railway stations with mainline connections to London. From Plymouth there are ferries to the Continent.
