Hon’ble Chief Minister Puratchi Thalaivi Amma Our Mother Tongue Tamil is so ancient. None could ascertain its origin. As the time of origin could not be ascertained, the ancient glory of Tamil race is explained by the poet Iyanaridanar (Iadhçjdh®) the author Duty expects not anything in return Just as rain expects none. Kural 211 1 of “Puraporul Vennbamalai” (òw¥bghUŸ bt©ghkhiy) in the stanza that follows. It’s no wonder nor amazement to know That Tamils were the ancient race, Primordial That it drove off the faulsities and flaws And accrued name and fame each day Amongst humanity born with sword Even before the emergence of soil After the hard palm – sized rubbles peeped up From the ocean wave that lashes around the earth. -

Historical Importance of Ettayapuram : a Study

SHEEBA@ PARVATHI, RESEARCH SCHOLAR, DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY, MANONMANIAM SUNDARANAR UNIVERSITY, TIRUNELVELI. Abstract: An attempt has been made to bring out the significance of Ettayapuram is an interesting topic which focuses on history of Zamins and their contribution to Art and letters and they ruled independently. India was under the clutch of the British rule for about two centuries. It has been pointed out by great historians, the mutual disunity that prevailed among the native rulers in India, was the main reason for the slavery of the Indian soil. However a galaxy of thinkers, writers, poets, philosophers and others who had national liberation only as their heart throbs, joined together and vowed to overthrow the British rule from India. The services of a few native rulers and chieftains who raised the banner of liberation, opposing the British rule in India is noteworthy. Key Words: Cultural contribution of Zamins, Pitha Maharaja, Contribution to culture and Art, and Men of Letters, Patrons of men of letters. 1. Introduction: An attempt has been made to bring out the significance of Ettayapuram is an interesting topic which focuses on history of Zamins and their contribution to Art and letters and they ruled independently. Tamil New Poetry: Twentieth Century Tamil Poets #9788189020460 #2005 #Katha, 2005
Tamil New Poetry: Twentieth Century Tamil Poets #9788189020460 #2005 #Katha, 2005 Tamil New Poetry: Twentieth Century Tamil Poets Most of Jeffersâ™ poetry was written in classic narrative and epic form, but today he is also known for his short verse, and considered an icon of the environmental movement. He is generally considered to be among the greatest American poets of the twentieth century. The old South Boston Aquarium stands in a Sahara of snow now. Its broken windows are boarded. So modern poetry is essentially a private art form and it contains very much a story of individual poets. The most striking thing in twentieth-century English literature is the revolution in poetic taste and practice. Various movements and changes had a greater influence upon modern poetry. Though poets are often influenced by each other and sometimes, share a common outlook, their style and the ways of writing differ from each other. So modern poetry is essentially a private art form and it contains very much a story of individual poets. T. S. Eliot. He is one of the most remarkable of English poets. He had great influence on poetry for more than forty years. He has used a new form of poetry to describe his new experience. His language has great life and energy. Conclusion. This list of Indian poets consists of poets of Indian ethnic, cultural or religious ancestry either born in India or emigrated to India from other regions of the world. Amulya Barua (1922â“1946), first published posthumously in 1964. Atul Chandra Hazarika (1903â“1986), poet, dramatist, children's story writer and translator. -

A Primer of Tamil Literature
This is a reproduction of a library book that was digitized by Google as part of an ongoing effort to preserve the information in books and make it universally accessible. https://books.google.com A PRIMER OF TAMIL LITERATURE BY iA. S. PURNALINGAM PILLAI, b.a., Professor of English, St. Michael's College, Coimbatore. PRINTED AT THE ANANDA PRESS. 1904. Price One Rupee or Two Shillings. (RECAP) .OS FOREWORD. The major portion of this Primer was written at Kttaiyapuram in 1892, and the whole has lain till now in manuscript needing my revision and retouching. Owing to pressure of work in Madras, I could spare no time for it, and the first four years of my service at Coim- batore were so fully taken up with my college work that I had hardly breathing time for any literary pursuit. The untimely death of Mr. V. G. Suryanarayana Sastriar, B.A., — my dear friend and fellow-editor of J nana Bodhini — warned me against further delay, and the Primer in its present form is the result of it. The Age of the Sangams was mainly rewritten, while the other Ages were merely touched up. In the absence of historical dates — for which we must wait, how long we do not know — I have tried my best with the help of the researches already made to divide, though roughly, twenty centuries of Tamil Literature into Six Ages, each Age being distinguished by some great movement, literary or religious. However .defective it may be in point of chronology, the Primer will justify its existence if it gives foreigners and our young men in the College classes whose mother-tongue is Tamil, an idea of the world of Tamil books we have despite the ravages of time and white-ants, flood and fire, foreign malignity and native lethargy. -

Little impact has been made by either advances in knowledge and awareness in the social sciences, the media, and information technology, or in the establishment of democratic norms and international laws and covenants designed to arrest such crimes. Our own little island has been witness to such cases, of which one is the LTTE’s expulsion of over 70,000 Muslims from the Northern Province—effectively the entire Muslim population in the area—in October 1990. The nature, scale, and other features of violence vary from case to case. -
