Upon completion of her long term charter in Mexico, supporting HEEREMA's offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico, ALP Ippon was transferred to ALP on April 2, 2015. She will first proceed to drydock for a well- deserved maintenance period where she will also receive the ALP Make-Up. She will be available for operations by end April 2015. No one mine in the world has as much mobile machinery as Grasberg. At the beginning of 2013, over 450 Cummins engines were in service at Freeport-McMoRan’s mine and port operations. Built at an oxygen-depleted altitude of 4,285 metres (14,000 ft), Grasberg is a spectacular feat of engineering. It is the world’s largest copper and gold mine in terms of reserves, and its operations are on a scale unique even by the standards of modern mega-mining. While the spectacular open pit dominates the landscape, one of the world’s largest underground mining operations is also part of the Grasberg complex. Production from the underground ore bodies, which are beneath and adjacent to the Grasberg open pit, are expected to ramp up over several years to around 240,000 tonnes a day. Helping to ensure the security of the maritime shipping networks that continue to dominate global trade and the vast resources of emerging EEZs from asymmetric challenges arguably became many navies’ primary raison d’être. Fleets became focused on collabora- tive global stabilisation far from home and structured their assets accordingly. Perhaps the most extreme example of this trend has been the German Navy’s F125 BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG class frig- ates – hugely sophisticated and expensive ships designed to prevail only in lower threat environments. -

He was elected to Parliament on his first attempt in 1996, installed as Labor Leader a year later and elected Premier within two years. First Passenger Ferry to Receive Cummins QSK95 Propulsion Power

(NYSE: CMI) announced today that Azam Marine has selected two QSK95 propulsion engines to provide main propulsion power for their next passenger ferry, making Kilimanjaro VII the first QSK95 powered passenger ferry in the world. “The QSK95 is a perfect fit for highly sophisticated vessels such as Kilimanjaro VII,” said Jim Schacht, Executive Director – Cummins Global Marine Business. “This product fully leverages Cummins unique experience with our in-house technologies such as turbo chargers, filtration and electronics delivering increased power and reliability, fast transient response and simple serviceability.” The QSK95 is the newest and most powerful Cummins engine for the marine market offering a power output previously exclusive to medium-speed marine engines with power ratings from 3200 hp to 4200 hp for propulsion, auxiliary, generator and diesel electric applications. The QSK95 brings the advantage of a lower capital cost, a more compact installation and exceptional fuel efficiency when compared to other engines in this class. Extended service and more cost-effective rebuilds add a further economic advantage for high-hour, hardworking vessels such as passenger transport, tugs, inland waterway towboats, crew boats, dredges and government patrol vessels. “Cummins has supported us well in the past, leading us to select the QSK95 for our newest and largest addition to the fleet.” Said Abubakar Aziz Salim, Managing Director – Azam Marine, “The unique engine design, high power density and available continuous-use power has allowed us to use a vessel design we are familiar with but expand its capability to carry more passengers.” Azam Marine and Coastal Fast Ferries operate passenger ferry boats between the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and mainland Tanzania. -

15th Volume, No. 12 1963 – “50 years tugboatman” - 2013 Dated 23 February 2014 BUYING, SALES, NEW BUILDING, RENAMING AND OTHER TUGS TOWING & OFFSHORE INDUSTRY NEWS TUGS & TOWING NEWS TH EASTERN COMPLETES 56 INLAND TOWBOAT Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has delivered the M/V Capt. Troy J. Hotard (Hull 186) to Florida Marine Transporters, Inc. of Mandeville, LA. The tug is 56th Inland Towboat constructed by Eastern Shipbuilding was delivered to Florida Marine. Earlier in January, Eastern announced that Florida Marine Transporters, Inc. had exercised more options for up to five additional 90’x32’x10’ Inland Towboats. In December of 2012, the M/V Blake Boyd, the 55th Towboat built by Eastern, was delivered to Florida Marine. This ongoing series of towboats originally began with a twenty-five vessel contract with on-time deliveries starting in 2006. It has expanded to become the largest single towboat build contract in history. The additional five vessel are being constructed based on the design furnished by Gilbert Associates, Inc. of Boston, MA. These five vessels will be the first in the series with EPA Tier 3 main propulsion engines and generators delivered to Florida Marine. This Tug has one 4,400 bhp Barreras engine with variable pitch propeller and bow thruster. 1/25 15TH VOLUME, NO. 12 DATED 23 FEBRUARY 2014 She has a total length of almost 42 m with 10.50 m breadth and a capacity of 400 m3 for fuel with cabins for a total of 23 persons. -

VOL. 53, NO. 1, ISSUE 219 - NEW SERIES 2020 Tambua (3,566/1938) arriving Sydney July 1963 (J.Y.Freeman) Tambua was built for the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. Ltd, Sydney, by Caledon Ship Building & Engineering Co., Dundee, in 1938, having been completed in July of that year. She was designed to carry bagged sugar in the holds and molasses in wing tanks. With a crew of 37, she traded Sydney, North Queensland ports, Fiji and New Zealand, back loading building materials, farming equipment, foodstuffs, railway tracks etc. She was renamed Maria Rosa when sold in 1968 and went to scrap under that name at Kaohsiung where she arrived 7 January 1973. Then on 28 January, in company with HMNZ Ships Wellio and Haa, the ship began a series of training and work-up exercises after the Christmas break. After three years of the design and build effort by HHI at the Ulsan shipyard, the new tanker Aotaroa began sea trials off the South Korean coast on 10 December ahead of her upcoming journey home to New Zealand. On 3 December the patrol vessel HMNZS Wellio in company with the Tuia 250 flotilla arrived in Wellington Harbour, including HMB Endeavour, Sirit of New Zeaand and a waka hourua. The national event celebrated New Zealand‟s voyaging heritage, and mark 250 years since the first onshore encounters between Māori and Captain James Cook and the crew of HMB Endeavour.
