Rebecca was the daughter of Gabriel Friend and granddaughter of John Friend Sr., founder of Friendsville, MD. Rebecca and George were the parents of at least six children: William B. Frantz, John Wesley Frantz, Thomas Perry Frantz, Joseph Freeman Frantz, George Dewey Frantz and Julia Ann Frantz. Their five sons, as well as the husband of Julia Ann Frantz, would serve with the 2nd and 3rd Regiments of the Potomac Home Brigade, MD Volunteer Infantry of the Union Army during the American Civil War. I could find little published on the lives of Rebecca Friend and George Frantz. That information comprises just a few pages in this book. The bulk of this work will focus on their numerous descendants and attempts to chronicle a cross section of their lives of through birth, marriage and death records, as well as the US Census, military records, family Bibles, books, short stories, photographs, land deeds and pedigrees published in print and on line. The goal of this work is to gather, organize and preserve a small portion of their lives, before it is lost to time. While I have not presented much information on Rebecca Friend and George Frantz, this book opens a window of their lives through their descendants, who have left the world a better place.
