Wearing the WIC Uniform...... 9 West Island College Uniforms

At West Island College (WIC), we believe that a uniform encourages students to recognize each other for whom they are as individuals. As such, it is one of the most important and visible representations of WIC to the outside community. The uniform is a symbol of our students and their remarkable achievements and contributions to the school. When wearing the uniform, students display their connection, bond, and commitment to the College’s Vision, Mission, and Values, and to the College’s motto; Let Us Pursue Excellence. While wearing a uniform inside or outside school, our students Marks are school ambassadors, and it is expected that students wear their with care, pride, and respect. All components of the uniform, with the exception of ties, belts, , and , must be purchased from WIC’s uniform We ask for parent support in ensuring that your children are wearing the supplier, Top Marks. uniform properly. The Formal Uniform is comprised of the same components as the Regular Uniform, but, rather than a Crested , students must wear the Crested . All students must be wearing their blazer on all Formal Uniform Days.

The Formal Uniform is to be worn on Registration Day, the first day of classes and school special events (requirement to be shared in advance of the dates).

Non-Uniform Days

All students are to dress appropriately for school on non-uniform days. Appropriate attire would include sleeves, covered backs, chests, and abdomens (no crop-tops), and no offensive slogans. No may be worn inside the school.

7 Footwear

Acceptable Footwear

• Shoes must be solid black with a black sole

• No visible large logos or emblems

• Heel must be less than 1 inch

• No Birkenstocks, , Doc Martins, or -style footwear

Unacceptable Footwear

8 Wearing the WIC Uniform

• Wear your uniform with care, pride, and respect

• Ensure your uniform fits properly and is in clean, good condition

• Uniforms must be worn at non-athletic school events, on or off campus (e.g., science fair and challenge, debate tournaments, field trips, etc.)

and are to be worn no shorter than 8 cm above the knee

• Modesty shorts must be worn under all skirts
