Young again, we become poets.” (Alfredo Oriani) What you are about to discover is a unique and exciting territory in which land routes and waterways meet and unwind in a landscape that extends beyond the horizon. A territory that unites the vast plains and the lush countryside of the Upper Side of Ferrara to the west with the waters and the sea of the Lower Side of Ferrara to the east: hospitable and welcoming, entrancing with its never-ending low, a feast for eyes, legs and mind. A place of art and imposing nature, the home of poets, writers, great engineers, architects and painters who illed the horizon with masterpieces and thoughts. The Este family loved these spaces so much they wanted to transform them into a single garden: an architectural project that redesigns the landscape, moulds it once again, populates it with new shapes and architectures and delivers it to immortality. The city of Ferrara, the cradle of Italian Renaissance together with all the ramiications of the Po Delta, constitutes one of the few European territories that UNESCO recognizes as a World Heritage Site in its entirety. Bicycles are the perfect tools to understand the territory of the province of Ferrara, in order to fully taste its nuances and characteristics: from Cento to Comacchio, from the hinterland to the sea, hundreds of miles over simply unrolling lat ground, easily reached albeit leaving great treasures behind.     artículos Comacchio e i suoi ponti Diego Maestri Università degli Studi Roma Tre RIASSUNTO: La città di Comacchio, a trenta chilometri a nord di Ravenna, essendo sorta all’interno di una vasta zona di Valli da Pesca, è rimasta isolata dalla terraferma fino alla metà del secolo XIX. Alla devoluzione del Ducato di Ferrara alla Santa Sede (1598), la Città di Comacchio, le sue saline e le sue Valli da Pesca sono state sfruttate dalla Reverenda Camera Apostolica per circa due secoli. Nella prima metà del secolo XVII, per volontà di alcuni illuminati cardinali Legati di Ferrara, la città di Comacchio ha visto la realizzazione di importanti interventi urbani e territoriali, tra cui la costruzione di numerosi ed interessanti ponti e l’escavazione di un canale navigabile, per metterla in comunicazione diretta con il Mare Adriatico. Lo scritto tratta, brevemente, della particolare confi- gurazione urbana del centro storico della città e della costruzione dei ponti, che sono ancora oggi la caratteristica principale della città lagunare, e in particolare delle caratteristiche di tre di essi (il Treponti, il Ponte delle Carceri e il Ponte di Piazza).     THE WATERWAY OF FERRARA IN THE EUROPEAN CORE NETWORK Waterways to connect Europe In October 2011, the European THEIL SISTEMAWATERWAY Commission submitted an OF FERRARA amendment proposal for the IDROVIARIO regulations governing the trans- PROJECT AS PART European transport networks PADANO-VENETOOF THE EUROPEAN (TEN-T) to the European Parliament and Council. CORE NETWORK The proposal entailed two distinct parts: Guidelines for the development of the Trans- European Transport Network and Connecting Europe Facility. In December 2013 both proposals were approved and published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The program is being developed on two levels, with the goal of improving the planning of new TEN-T networks: • A global, Comprehensive network to be completed by 2050 and intend- ed to supply the central network via regional and national connections. • A central, Core network composed of 9 corridors, to be completed and operational by 2030. It will serve the most important connections and hubs within the TEN-T network: capitals, large urban hubs, the main harbours and airports. It will be at the heart of the TEN-T network, as it will contain the areas of the global network with the highest strategic value. These are key elements paramount to achieving the general goals of the project, as well as added-value goals for the EU, such as establishing missing transborder connections, multimodal nodes, and eliminating the main bottlenecks. Within the current revision of the TEN-T network, the entire “Padano-Veneto waterway system” is part of the “Core network”. All funding is provided for studies or con- struction work contributing to the project’s global objectives.

    UN MILIARDO PER LA CULTURA: IL PIANO DEL MINISTERO DEI BENI E DELLE ATTIVITA’ CULTURALI E DEL TURISMO. Il Piano Cultura e Turismo proposto dal Ministro Dario Franceschini approvato dal Comitato Interministeriale per la Programmazione Economica stanzia un miliardo di euro del Fondo Sviluppo e Coesione 2014 – 2020 per la realizzazione di 33 interventi di tutela e valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale e di potenziamento del turismo culturale distribuiti su tutto il territorio nazionale. Per il progetto “Ducato Estense”, incluso nel Piano del Ministero, è previsto un finanziamento di 70 milioni di euro di cui 69 milioni per la realizzazione di canteri di restauro e di interventi di riqualificazione e un 1 milione per la definizione e promozione del brand estense. IL PROGETTO DUCATO ESTENSE: LE LINEE GENERALI. Il Progetto “Ducato Estense”, che coinvolge le province di Ferrara, Modena, Reggio Emilia e Lucca, ha come principali obiettivi la realizzazione di interventi strutturali per il restauro di beni architettonici estensi (con priorità per beni danneggiati dal sisma del 2012) e di interventi di riqualificazione come, ad esempio, il miglioramento dell’accessibilità per persone con difficoltà motorie, la realizzazione di piste ciclabili, di spazi dedicati alla didattica, all’accoglienza del pubblico e per la sistemazione di aree urbane e di aree verdi. The Po delta covers a surface of about 1300 km 2 of reclaimed lands, fresh- and salt-water lagoons, low sedimentary shores and emerging sandy banks. Its evolution has been extremely complex and several historical deltas have been ~ ~ 7# --% 1&-Ut recognized. Up to the end of the Middle Ages, the coastal morphology of ancient cuspidate deltas appears to have been shaped basically by natural processes. On the contrary, the formation of the modern lobate delta has been largely the result of human intervention. The Po delta is one of the largest in the Mediterranean. It contains areas of great natural beauty and monuments of historical interest and has been recognized as an internationally important wetland.
