This art repairs things which are broken using gold, thereby strengthening and beautifying the item. At times I have felt broken, but have also been reminded that God loves and upholds us, even in our weakness. Bill Kerswell Logs & firewood Seasoned Logs 10 Bags (Approx. 1 Builders Bag) £30 Delivered Free I came across an artist creating jewellery based on Also Kindling £2 Net this Japanese art and now, whenever I’m in collar, Bill Kerswell you’ll also see I’m wearing a small heart, broken yet Picklescott repaired. A reminder from me, to me, that my Tel: 01694 751287 weaknesses are no barrier to God, that He is the one who strengthens and upholds me. Rev. Laura Hnatiuk Rector 38 3 Dear Friends I hope that as you read this you will have had a good summer. For the last few months I have spent a lot of time indoors! However, I’m delighted that as lockdown restrictions have eased a bit I shall be hitting the road around the Diocese on the four Saturdays leading up to our Diocesan Gift Day on September 20th. My plan is to visit every benefice around the diocesan land boundary over those four days and lead whoever joins me in prayer for the life of our diocesan family. The times and venues can be found on the diocesan website or from your parish priest. All that we do as Christians is based in prayer. However, the focus of this praying is particularly towards our gift day. Churches throughout the Diocese have faced unprecedented financial challenges due to COVID-19. Fundraising events have ground to a halt and fee income has dried up. Yet ministry still needs to be funded. In all of our churches what is given is received back in the form of clergy ministry and support. For most churches this doesn’t cover the actual cost, so the gap is funded either through the generosity of other parishes giving over and above their own provision, or through our historic reserves. I hope our Gift Day will be an opportunity to give thanks to God for His love and generosity towards us. I hope that it will enable us to contribute over and above our normal giving to the life changing ministry that is transforming lives all across our Diocese. The importance of the four days of prayer leading up to September 20 is to reinforce that giving is part of our discipleship. Even if you can’t join us at one of the venues, I hope you would be able to join us in prayer at home or in your parish. As someone once said, “prayer moves the hand that moves the world.” As we face the effects of this crisis together, it can also move our hearts to sacrificial generosity and love. I so look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks. With every blessing +Richard 4 37 Locksmiths Do you have a let property? W: howiekentandco.com Welbatch Farm, Because of Covid we are way down on income and it has been proposed by the Diocese that Hook-a-Gate we hold a Gift Day. When each of us is asked to prayerfully consider making a generous gift to the work of the church. Gifts are made anonymously if desired. If you have thoughts about this E:[email protected] please speak to Chris Breakell Church Warden. A Sunday in September has been earmarked for this event if we decide to take part. I heard a sermon recently and we were encouraged to wait, which is good Psalm 37:7, but it made me think that if all we do is wait then nothing will happen, so what should we do while we are waiting. Read Joshua 3. 1. Prepare. Make sure that your relationship with God is right. Joshua tells the people to consecrate themselves to the Lord. Read God’s word, study it, pray and listen. Then when it’s time we can move on. 2. Promises. Hold on to the promises God has made in his word. I will never leave you or forsake you and many others. Our God does not want us just to wait, he calls us to go. Matthew 28 v 19– 20. 3. Presence. Remember that our God is always with us, the Israelites in Joshua’s time had the Ark to remind them of God’s presence. We have the Holy Spirit, God’s presence in our lives. Go forward assured of this. 4. Procession. If you read Joshua you will see that when the people had prepared, held on the his promises and were assured of God’s presence they moved. We move forward as we reach out to others with the message.

It offers a diverse range of scenery: from the lakes and rolling pasturelands around Ellesmere in the north, to the gaunt moorlands of the Clee Hills, with their stark industrial ruins, in the south; the densely wooded scarps of Wenlock Edge; or the straight, sandy lanes of the north-eastern heathlands, with their large arable fields and ‘big skys’.
