Thu 19 Jul Steve Bristow ( 07799 533222 ) 5.5 miles Easy Montgomery Canal from Maesbury Marsh to Crickheath following Wat's Dyke Way along the newly restored section of the Montgomery Canal and mainly field paths back via St Winifred's Well, a place of pilgrimage with 'miraculous healing qualities' since 1138. From the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre Craven Arms across fields then climbing up through Halford Wood. Short road walk to Lower Dinchope and across fields to climb up Callow Hill to reach Flounders Folly. The Folly will be open for people to go up the tower. Returning via Strefford and along the Quinny Brook for tea and cakes (optional) at the Discovery Centre. Meet 09:30 Abbey Foregate. An interesting walk along the River Severn on the Darwin Trail and Severn Way. Pass Darwin's garden and through Doctor's Meadow behind his birthplace. Then into the Quarry Park with some lovely views and a play area. Suitable for children of all ages including those in back carriers, but some steps so not suitable for pushchairs. A good walk in the Welsh hills with a variety of terrain. Meet 09:00 Harvester Car Park. Gentle climbs, dragonflies at Shelve Pool, good views from Flenny Bank. Refreshments available at the Bog Visitor Centre Meet 09:30 Harvester Car Park.
