While the Masters Forum took precedence in 2011, Cable Mavericks university presentations continued. In May, Time Warner Cable Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Peter Stern visited The New School in New York City for two discussions with students, the majority of whom were also Time Warner Cable customers. In a breakfast presentation hosted by New School President David Van Zandt, Stern discussed innovation in cable and career options for graduates. He impressed the students with his emphasis on fresh thinking about media rights, content creation, analytics-based advertising and fee-for-use business models. Later, Stern met with a graduate strategy class in the Media Studies program for a lively conversation about cable operators’ risks and opportunities for growth.
