How to Download an onto the How to Download Kindle

Search for : 1. Go to the North Richland Hills Public ’s at www.library.nrhtx.com. 2. Select eBooks & eAudiobooks from the left-hand side of the page. 3. Select Overdrive Library. This will take to the Overdrive web site. 4. Under the green banner that says North Texas on the Go there are a series of options. Click on the Sign in option. 5. Select North Richland Hills from the drop-down menu. 6. Enter your library card number. 7. This will take you to the My Account page. You do not have to do anything on this page. 8. Browse or Search the Overdrive site for an eBook with the options given on the left side of the page (scroll down to see all of the options). Advanced Search will have additional options including format and availability. 9. Choose a title that you wish to check out. 10. Make sure that it is compatible with the Kindle. This icon will be under Available Copies with the words Kindle next to it. 11. Click Add to Basket. 12. Click on Proceed to Check Out.

Check Out eBooks: 1. After you have found a book you wish to check out and have clicked on Proceed to Check Out, you will be taken to the Check Out Page. Select a check out period (either 7 days or 14 days) and click on Confirm Check Out. 2. This will take you to the Download page. Click on the Get For Kindle button to complete your check out with Overdrive. 3. A new browser window will open showing you your title within the . Click on the yellow Get Library Book button on the upper right side of the screen. (If you are not already logged into your Amazon account, you will be prompted to do so. Make sure that you log into the same account that you registered with your Kindle.) 4. On the screen that follows, use the drop down menu to specify which Kindle device you would like to have your title delivered to. 5. Click the Continue button. 6. You should see a Thanks! Page. Your check out is now complete. Your Kindle will download your eBook the next time it connects to Wi-Fi or the Amazon 3G Network, or immediately if you are already connected to Wi-Fi. If you have a Kindle Fire and you do not see your title in the bookshelf, tap the settings icon in the upper right hand corner and select Sync.

Download via USB Cable: 1. After step 4 you will need to select Check Out from the drop down menu and click continue. 2. You will be prompted to open or save the file. Click on Save File and then click on OK. Save the file to your desktop. 3. Connect your Kindle to your using the USB cable. 4. On your computer open the Kindle drive located in My Computer. 5. Locate the folder and click on it, this will highlight the folder, and then click on Open. 6. Click and drag the eBook from the desktop and drop it into the Kindle Documents. 7. Once the title has finished transferring, you may close the window. On your Kindle, the book will show up on your Home screen.

Note: Currently, through Overdrive, only eBooks are compatible with the Kindle. are currently not available for the Kindle through Overdrive.

To Return an eBook Early: 1. Use your computer to log into your Amazon account. 2. Use the navigation menu in the left hand column and select Manage Your Kindle. You should see a list of titles in your Kindle eBook Library. 3. Find the title you wish to return and use the Actions drop down menu and select Return This Book. 4. You will be asked if you are sure you want to return the book, click Yes. 5. Your library eBook has successfully been returned!

To Register Your Kindle with Amazon: 1. Use your computer to go to www.amazon.com. 2. On the left side of the screen go to the link that says Kindle. 3. A list of options will appear. Click on Manage Your Kindle at the bottom of the list. 4. Sign in to your Amazon account. 5. On the left side of the screen find the link that says Register a Kindle. Click on it. 6. Enter the 16-digit serial number of your Kindle. 7. Click on the yellow button that says Register. 8. Congratulations, your Kindle has been registered.
