Jedna z mojich prvých oficiálnych ciest viedla na Otvárací koncert minuloroč- ného festivalu. Získala si ma nielen hudba, ale aj podmanivá atmosféra kultúrnej metropoly východného Slovenska, nadšenie organizátorov a vďačnosť publika. Program 64. ročníka festivalu je dôstojným vyvrcholením jubilejnej 50. umeleckej sezóny Štátnej filharmónie Košice. Príťažlivá a objavná dra- maturgia zahŕňajúca diela viacerých hudobných žánrov, hosťovanie mimoriadne kvalitných domácich i zahraničných sólistov, dirigentov a súborov potvrdzujú, že Košická hudobná jar je podujatím, ktoré má ne- zastupiteľné miesto v našom kultúrnom živote a že finančná podpora zo strany štátu na jeho realizáciu je dobrou investíciou. Som presvedčená, že tohoročný festival dokáže osloviť široké publikum a bude dôstojným pendantom športovo naladeného májového života Košíc. Umelecké a športové výkony nie je možné porovnávať, hoci je možné medzi nimi nájsť zjavné paralely – nevyhnutnosť talentu, nároky na prípravu, odrie- kanie a túžbu prinášať radosť a potešenie.

He continued with Dimitris Toufexis in Athens; he subsequently studied conducting at the Berlin Music Academy under Hans-Martin Rabenstein, graduating in 1996 with top marks in conducting. At the same time, IMPRESSIONS he attended conducting seminars with Miltiadis Karidis at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy in Dresden and with Sir Simon Rattle. He also holds a Law degree from Athens University. He has FOR conducted such important orchestras as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Opera of Eastern Saxonia, Magdeburg Philharmonic, New Brandenburg Philharmonic, SAXOPHONE Thüringen Symphony Orchestra, Niederschlesien Orchestra (Poland and Czech Republic), as well as all the major Greek AND ORCHESTRA orchestras. Since 2001, he has collaborated regularly with the Greek National Opera, conducting productions of Tosca, Il trovatore, L’Italiana in Algeri, Les contes d’Hoffmann, L’elisir d’ amore and Photograph: © Koukis Fedora. Since July 2004, he has been Artistic Director of the Antoniou Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded, in collaboration with the University of Crete, a CD of Mikis Theodorakis’s Axion Esti.

He studied composition at the Tashkent Conservatory with Rumil Vildanov and Boris Zeidman. He has composed prolifically in most genres including opera, orchestral, chamber and vocal works.     Marco Balderi Nato a Seravezza (Italia), si è diplomato col massimo dei voti all’Istituto Musicale L. Boccherini di Lucca (pianoforte) e al Conservatorio L. Cherubini di Firenze (direzione di coro, clavicembalo, organo), ha frequentato l’Università di Paleografia e Filologia Musicale a Cremona e in seguito il Conservatorio S. Cecilia di Roma (direzione d’orchestra). Dal 1984 al 1989 collabora come assistente di celebri direttori tra cui C. Abbado, R. Chailly, C. M. Giulini, H. von Karajan, J. Levine, Z. Mehta, R. Muti, G. Patanè, W. Sawallisch, nei più importanti teatri europei come il Comunale di Firenze, la Scala di Milano e il Festival di Salisburgo. Durante il periodo 1992-1996, Marco Balderi è direttore del coro del Teatro Comunale di Firenze, dove partecipa a molte importanti produzioni al fianco di Z. Mehta e S. Bychkov. La sua carriera di direttore d’orchestra inizia dopo aver vinto i concorsi internazionali di Salisburgo e Alessandria.
