Our deepest sympathies go to his wife and his family. Dr Bossdorf joined Report Verlag in 2006, became its Publishing Director in 2007 and later was appointed Managing Direc- tor. In addition, he was Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Strategie & Technik", which evolved from the traditional "Soldat und Technik" publication. As a result of the merger of Report Verlag with E.S. Mittler & Sohn publishing house, that created Mittler Report Verlag in 2012, the magazi- nes "Strategie & Technik" and "Europäische Sicherheit" were combined under his lea- dership to form the current "Europäische Sicherheit & Technik". At the same time, Dr Bossdorf was appointed Managing Director of Mittler Report Verlag, where he also played a decisive role in the development of the English-language magazine "Europe- an Security & Defence" from a quarterly magazine to an internationally recognised specialist monthly journal. One year ago, Dr Bossdorf also took over the management of K&K Medienverlag-Hardthöhe GmbH as Publisher of the magazine "Hardthöhen- kurier", so that he was most recently the highly valued Managing Director of two publishing houses as well as Editor-in-Chief of "European Security & Defence". -

There has been a significant rise in the use of UGVs, artificial intelligence, virtual training and survivability equipment. Also, Active Protection Systems (APS) are being developed in lighter, cheaper and more accurate forms, supporting their case as a popular solution for the future battlespace. With all of the aforementioned in mind, the deployment of MBTs is still seen as a necessity by most in spite of climbing demand for light protected mobility. Ahead of International Armoured Vehicles 2019 conference, Defence IQ has compiled this market report to outline global key programmes and future requirements across all types of armoured vehicles. In January, Senior Representatives from the below countries will share their current requirements and challenges with the audience made up of over -

Given that the requirements of modern armoured vehicles are driven by so many conflict- ing factors, perhaps they are the defence establishment’s own camels. Mobility, protection and firepower as core requirements are by no means confined to Main Battle Tanks, but the emergence of uninformed, or “claimed” national industrial strategic capabilities; the tightening of budgets; the growth of “zero-casualty” politics; and the ability to destroy an enemy at drone’s length all impact global demand for vehicles with the full suite of capa- bilities now available. That “full suite” costs space and manoeuvrability, as crews of 4x4 vehicles in combat have, historically, sometimes found to their detriment. -

Armoured Vehicles Global Inventories 2016-17 Introduction
ARMOURED VEHICLES GLOBAL INVENTORIES 2016-17 INTRODUCTION As detailed in Defence IQ’s 6th annual Global Armoured Vehicles Market Report (2017), the armoured vehicles market is projected to reach $15.17 billion in 2017. According to the report’s proprietary survey data, confidence in the global armoured vehicle market has rebounded after a temporary downturn, underpinned by steadily rising defence budgets, new contract opportunities and recent big ticket government investments. In addition to survey data and analysis the report also uncovered a continued demand for landmine/IED protection worldwide and growing demand for Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Light Protected Vehicles. Among the global community, there are also seen increasing dangers of directed energy and other types of anti-vehicles systems that demand innovative and cost-effective solutions as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have risen in the past year as the world’s focal countries for armoured vehicles business. This follow-on report details global vehicle inventories – in easy-to-read table format – in so far as it is possible to calculate. Of course, some nations and regions are less transparent than others about the exact units stocked in their military vehicle fleets, but we hope the information enclosed can help readers garner a greater understanding of the current situation for end-users. This report has been issued ahead of the 17th Annual International Armoured Vehicles conference, taking place in London, UK, on 23-26 January. A registration form can be found at www.internationalarmouredvehicles.com. Need more information?
