Timeline: Seville, SPRING 2020 The Semester in Seville, Spain, program is open to all college students. Student must be 18 years old by the program start date and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in at least 12 units of previous college level course work at an accredited college. First semester students enrolled in 12 units may be accommodated if their campus coordinator approves a “progress report.” 1) Contact your study abroad advisor (see the last page of the brochure) OR visit your College’s study abroad website OR Citrus College’s study abroad website and complete the Initial Application form. 2) APPLY TO CITRUS COLLEGE FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER. Complete a Citrus College application for admission online www.citruscollege.edu - Click on Wingspan; Apply for Admission. You will be issued a Citrus student I.D. and student email. 3) Read and complete the “Financial Aid Fact Sheet” spring 2020 Seville financial aid is only offered through Citrus College. It is also possible to apply for a loan during the fall (at your home college) and use this for the spring or to help cover the flight and initial deposit. 4) By Nov. 27, 2019 DEADLINE: Complete the AIFS enrollment and pay the $450 deposit. Your advisor will send you the AIFS enrollment link after you complete the Initial Application. *Note: $150 of your deposit is non-refundable. After Nov. 27, the entire deposit is non-refundable. *See the AIFS Seville Info and fee schedule for information on the payment schedule for AIFS fees, 2020 program dates, and information about the AIFS transportation package. REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES: Students who have paid the $450 deposit will be able to register through Citrus’ Wingspan student portal. Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 units including the required Hum./Span. 127 course (3 units). If students are not eligible for the Promise Grant (formerly BOGW), tuition fees will be applied (12 x $46 = $552). Two students will share a double room. Apartments are fully furnished and include kitchen/living space, bed linen, washing machine, and Wi-Fi; homestay students receive breakfast daily and dinner Monday-Friday, plus weekly laundry service and wireless Internet access; orientation program in Seville consisting of a meeting with AIFS staff on information such as safety and security, cultural activities, a welcome dinner and a local area walking tour; half-day sightseeing tour of Seville by private bus and on foot, with the services of a professional, English-speaking guide; Spanish Life and Culture Course including a weekly lecture with a guest speaker on a variety of topics such as Contemporary Spanish History, Spanish Politics, Education, Art, Architecture, and Customs and Traditions; full-day excursion to Cordoba including round-trip transportation by private bus, a walking tour of the city and entrance to the Mezquita, with the services of a professional, English-speaking guide; full-day excursion to Granada including round-trip transportation by private bus, a walking tour of the city and entrance to the Alhambra, with the services of a professional, English-speaking guide; farewell group dinner; subsidized cultural calendar of events including walking tours, cooking classes, guided museum visits, sporting events and local seasonal activities; access to the wireless-enabled AIFS Student Center and a dedicated team of AIFS Student Services staff for information, personal advising/counseling and 24-hour emergency contact service; medical insurance and program fee refund insurance policies; Program fee does not include the following: optional Transportation Package consisting of round-trip airfare between Los Angeles and Seville and round-trip transfers overseas between the airport and student accommodation in Seville on the specified program dates for $945; mandatory additional U.S. government and airline-imposed departure taxes, fees and fuel surcharges of $114 (subject to change); optional three-day, two-night excursion to Morocco for $425; optional housing in a twin-bedded room in a homestay for an additional $1,000, with an optional single room upgrade available for an additional $345 ($1,345 total). Subsequent payments may be made by check or credit card. Checks should be made payable to “AIFS.” American Express, MasterCard and Visa are also accepted. Financial Aid students are responsible for paying, by December 27, 2019, the airfare ($945), taxes/fees/fuel ($114 and subject to change), an $850 program reservation deposit (toward overall balance), and any remaining balance that will not be covered by aid. Please note: A $35 returned check fee will be charged on all checks returned by the bank for insufficient funds. AIFS TRANSPORTATION PACKAGE Participants have the option of purchasing a round-trip ticket for the flight arranged through AIFS. Participants choosing this option should note the following restrictions: Tickets purchased from AIFS are exclusively on scheduled airlines (not charters). They are not endorsable to another carrier. Flights are not necessarily direct or non-stop, and frequent flyer miles are not applicable. The AIFS Transportation Package includes ground transportation from the airport in Seville to the Seville hotel and again from student housing to the Seville airport on the regularly scheduled program arrival date. AIFS will book flights on the dates indicated on this application only. Participants wishing to purchase the Transportation Package must notify AIFS in writing by Wednesday, November 27, 2019, or by selecting it on the online enrollment form. Participants wishing to cancel from the flight must notify AIFS in writing by Friday, December 27, 2019. Cancellation penalties will apply. Tickets are non-refundable after this date. Participants who plan to purchase their own airline ticket will be responsible for providing their own round-trip transportation between the airport in Seville and the Seville hotel on arrival and between their accommodations and Seville Airport on the return. AIFS Airfare Regulations: Return must be to original U.S. departure point. Tickets are subject to airline availability. No refunds are available for any unused portion of ticket. Tickets cannot be rerouted, and stopovers are not permitted. Once in Spain participants may be able to change their return date, but only if that date is available and in the same class of service in which the ticket was booked. Only the ticketing agent can provide this information. Participants are subject to agency and airline-imposed change fees and space availability. Group round-trip ground transportation to and from the airport in Seville is on the regularly scheduled program dates only. AIFS cannot guarantee that all passengers will be booked on the same flight. 2 .
