WILLIAMS: Teacher Perceptions of the Use of Hip Hop Culture, Hip Hop Pedagogy and Identity Development in an Urban Elementary School (Under the direction of Barbara Kawulich, Ph.D.) This study described the perceptions of Hip Hop teaching artists and traditional school teachers toward the use of Hip Hop music and culture to nurture positive identity development in urban elementary students. The study sought to discover influences of Hip Hop culture on youth identity formation. Inquiry also focused on the participant educators’ perceptions of the benefits and challenges of implementing Hip Hop-based pedagogy in educational settings. -

Er wollte nun im Herbst das Studium der Ästhetik wiederauf- nehmen und sich auf den langen Marsch Richtung Promotion und Wunschkarriere Philosophieprofessur auf einem üppig grü- nen und verträumten Campus begeben. Da ich schon in Boston wohnte (ich bin gebürtiger Bostoner), schlug er vor, wir könnten doch wieder zusammenziehen. Im April 1989 fanden Dave und ich eine Wohnung im ersten Stock, die zwei Schlafzimmer, ein Wohnzimmer und eine Kü- che hatte (in der wir vielleicht zweimal gekocht haben), und das alles für sechshundert Tacken im Monat.
