Annual General Meeting and Monthly Meeting. Our meeting opened with Club President Jack Butler welcoming all to our 2013 AGM & Monthly Meeting. Secretary Paul Cosgrave read the minutes of the previous AGM which were proposed, seconded and accepted as correct. He also paid tribute to members Bill Donaldson, Andrew Hutton and Neville May who passed away during the year. Paul mentioned the increase in membership numbers and the need for more woodworking space because of the increase. He expressed our appreciation to the numerous people who have been very active in helping us to search and attempt to solve this problem. (incl., Politicians and Manly Warringah Shire Council, officers and councillors). Club President Jack Butler presented his report which is attached to the newsletter- Jack concluded by thanking all for their incredible support in producing from a reasonably small club such a huge input into the community and also for the support he had received as president over the last few years. Rupert Linn was then called on to present the Treasurers report which indicated the club being in a good position with the clubs net financial worth being $32,857. Our main source of income is now from Bunnings Sausage Sizzles which provided a profit of $7600 over the year. We did not make a profit from the St. Ives Markets. The club made donations to the tune of $3200 including donations to the following charities:- Manly Warringah Womens Resource Centre, Kaddy Transport, Manly Hospital Cardiac unit, Mona Vale Hospital Auxillary, and the Motor Nurone Society. The financial statement is attached. Next was the election of officers for the coming year---- Again we thank member Lou BROWN for his absolute professionalism in attending to the role of returning officer. Lou was faced with the prospect of President, Vice President and Treasurer electing to stand down to force the continuation of a turnover of officers. Thus allowing others the experiences involved in the running of a successful organisation. Also very importantly the continuation into the future for the Club. Officers Elected for the next year are:- President June McKimmie V/President Meg Webster Secretary Paul Cosgrave Treasurer Ted Goodman Assist Treasurer Rupert Linn and Graham Truelove Guild Representatives John Cottle, Tim MacGregor, Alex Bendeli. The minutes of the AGM are attached. The 2013 AGM was then closed and the New President June McKimmie opened the Monthly meeting by thanking all for the vote of confidence and also the members who unselfishly help out in the various positions, events, functions and so on. June then attended to the first important role of positions required for the next 12 months. Show & Tell conducted by Aaron Next up Mr. Show & Tell Aaron Ehrlich led us into a much improved number of items for our Show and Tell segment of the meeting. The theme for the day was a turned item with some form of decoration. Jack Butler - Lidded finial topped boxes in Jacaranda with a recessed band of paua shell in a clear resin finish around the lid rim. John Redding - A very nice Huon Pine bowl featuring drilled holes to highlight his decoration. June Mckimmie - Lidded box coloured with boot polish, Beads with burning finishes, Decorated Tops, A Vase turned green from Norfolk Pine with decorative dark burning feature to hide the cracks sustained when it flew off the lathe, and a very interesting little item turned from a New Zealand Ponga fern tree Rob Morton - Very proudly (and rightly so) brought along a beautifully made (from Tasmanian Oak) Vienna regulated clock that was made by his son Thomas Kuss, for his year 12 woodworking project. Congratulations Thomas you also have every right to be very proud of the work that you have put into the making of this lovely clock.
