Wednesday, September 18, 2013 5—8 p.m. (unless otherwise listed) Welcome to the Wabash Arts Corridor Crawl! Today we unleash the collective power of the many ed- ucational and cultural institutions in our district, creating synergy with our local businesses, residents, students and general public. The Wabash Arts Corridor is one of the city of Chicago’s most important cultural assets, home to eight educational institutions with 30,000 students—5,000 of which reside in residence halls. The crawl also consists of 19 galleries, 14 performance spaces, six major hotels and more than 40 restaurants and businesses catering to this vibrant community. The district produces more than 1,000 cultural events with annual audiences of more than 1,000,000! Most of these assets have been in place for years, but the emergence of the Wabash Arts Corridor concept brings them all together. The Wabash Arts Corridor Crawl is our coming–out party where the rich life of our district becomes palpable. Go out and enjoy this special day, and let this be a marker for both the Wabash Arts Corridor community and the city of Chicago. This is the day our collective power becomes understood.
