After Hours Badge Pickup After Registration closes, badges for attendees who have pre-registered only are available at the Bridge located on the 2nd floor of the Marriott Hotel from 10:00PM until Midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Badges • Badges must be worn above your belt, below your neck, be on the front of your body, and be visible at all times. • The only exception is detailed in the Masquerade Section. • You are free to put your badge in any holder. • If you do not have one, badge holders will be provided by Registration. • Costumes must not cover up your badge. • You must present your badge if asked by sta, ranger, or volunteer door badger. • By wearing the AnimeIowa Convention badge, you give AnimeIowa permission to use your image or likeness for promotion of the convention. Sta and Security • Sta members wear a large/unique badge which boldly states Sta on the front. • Rangers are a part of AnimeIowa’s security. They are here for your safety and to help make sure the convention runs smoothly. • Sta or Volunteer Rangers will be wearing identifying badges or uniforms when on duty during the convention. • On duty Rangers have the same authority as sta members. Replacement Badges • Replacement badges can be purchased at the registration desk for a $10.00 fee. • We will require your ID again. Your replacement badge will have the same badge number as your first. • If you find a lost badge, please turn it in at the Bridge’s Lost and Found. • If you find your lost badge, turn in the replacement badge. If someone besides you is found wearing your badge, both parties will be brought to the Convention bridge and dealt with accordingly. Masquerade Event • Participants in the Masquerade are not required to wear their badge while on stage or while costumes are being judged. But outside the green room or Main Stage, you MUST put your badge back on. Age Limit Restrictions • All attendees age 12 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult at all times while on event property. • Unattended children age 12 and under will be reported to the Bridge and a Ranger or sta member will stay with them at their location until their registered adult is located and brought to their location. • Persons under the age of 18 must provide emergency contact information for a person at or near the convention Badges and Convention Space • Only persons with a badge are permitted within all areas that are considered part of the AnimeIowa convention. • If you have yet to purchase a badge, you may not wander the halls. • Persons without badges will be escorted to Registration to purchase one or be required to leave convention space. • A Convention Badge is required to Volunteer. All adult attendees are required to bring photo identification (photo ID) with them to the Photo convention. Minors between 13-17 can use school issued IDs to facilitate badge pickup. Government issued Photo ID’s are required for Adult badge pickup. Identification These ID’s include: Policy State or Providence Issued Drivers License State Issued ID Military ID Passport Adults entering age-restricted events will be required to show photo ID, your badge is not acceptable.

3 Convention Rules & Information

Convention Center and Hotel Don’t Litter - Trash bins are all around the convention center and hotel. Keep it Clean! Signs and Adhesives - Bring your signs and posters to the BRIDGE before you hang them. Tape and adhesives are not to be used on hotel walls, doors, or any other surface. See the INFO DESK for more information. Sleeping in Convention Spaces - Sleeping is not allowed in public spaces like (but not limited to) hallways, stairways, elevators, video rooms, tables, restrooms. If you are found doing so, you will be asked to move. If found again, we will ask you to leave the convention. Pets - Aside from Service Animals, pets and animals are NOT allowed at AnimeIowa. Wheeled Transportation - For the Safety of all attendees, roller blades/skates, heelies, skateboards and other wheeled personal transportation items are not allowed at AnimeIowa or in the Hotel. Non-recreational items such as strollers and Wheelchairs are permitted with responsible use. General Behavior Don’t be a DINK! - Please do not intentionally disrespect your fellow attendees or do things that are inappropriate and/or dangerous. If you see someone making a dink of themselves, please report them at the AnimeIowa BRIDGE located on the 2nd oor of the Marriott. City, State and Federal Laws - If it’s a law outside the convention, it’s a law within the convention. This means NO underage drinking, NO theft, NO ghting, NO drug abuse or anything else that lands in your court. Just Say NO! Badges - You MUST have your badge to participate in convention activities. AnimeIowa reserves the right to revoke the membership of any person who breaks our house rules or acts in a manner that is unsafe or otherwise unacceptable. Weapons and Props - All weapons and large props must be brought to the WEAPONS TABLE located on Level 2 by the Bridge to be inspected and peace-marked by Convention Staff. Be respectful of other attendees, and do not allow your prop to damage hotel property. *Medical Canes/walkers are exempt. Solicitation - In order to participate in the retail sales of merchandise and services you must be registered with the Marketplace and follow all rules and procedures in the Marketplace contract. However, you can to give out free tokens of love and respect to your fellow Attendees. Panel Disruption - Panelists may ask attendees to leave if they are being disruptive to their panel. PLEASE REFRAIN from using ash photography during panels and other events. Our photography staff work hard to provide the con and you with great pictures and a sudden ash can distort an image. The use of a camera is permitted in approved locations. Costumes - All costumes must cover parts of the body which would be covered by a bathing suit. Additionally, all dress should be respectful and not contain hateful or discriminatory language, symbols or imagery. Use of the AnimeIowa logo, mascot, or name in costuming is prohibited unless written consent is obtained from the convention or its parent foundation, or if the item is purchased from the convention. Cosplay is NOT Consent! Harassment Every attendee of a Mindbridge Foundation activity has the right to be free from harassment. Harassment of anyone on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age, gender, or physical or mental disability is prohibited by law and by the policies of this Foundation. Harassment because of sexual orientation, personal appearance, marital status or other personal characteristics, is disrespectful and also prohibited by Mindbridge and AnimeIowa company policies. Reporting Harassment If you are a victim or witness to and act of Harassment or any other violation of AnimeIowa’s policy and rules, we encourage all attendees to report those incidents directly to the bridge. Or you may report it to any nearby Ranger or Staff member. To aid in this, we encourage anyone who is witness to, if possible, take note of the badge number of the person they are reporting, as well as basic information such as approximate height and weight, clothing or dress, direction they headed, or other useful descriptors. All complaints will be investigated promptly, impartially, and discreetly. Upon completion of the investigation, the appropriate parties will be noti ed of the ndings. If an attendee, staff, or outside party is found to have harassed an attendee, appropriate corrective action will be taken. This could range from a disciplinary warning up to and including removal from the event and all other future Mindbridge events. No one will suffer retaliation for reporting alleged instances of harassment. We must work together to prevent and stop harassing conduct at our events. We trust that the members of Mindbridge Foundation company and attendees for AnimeIowa will act responsibly to maintain safe events, will treat each other with dignity and respect, and will work to maintain events free of discrimination and harassment. For security reasons, we can not accept reports made over Social Media.

4 Safety and Health Measures for 2021

To ensure the safety of all AnimeIowa, Attendees, Guests, Vendors and Staff, we must adhere to the current policies of the State, County, City, and our Venue, as well as our own guidelines. We will be utilizing the following guidelines to facilitate safety for all in attendance at AnimeIowa. These guidelines are subject to change as new information and policies by previously mentioned bodies is made available.

• Convention hours for this year have changed. The convention’s 2021 hours are from 8:00AM to Midnight. • This year, we have a Cap of 2500 attendees for the event. • There will be 350 Weekend passes sold on Friday Only. Sales will start at 9:00 AM when Registration opens. • There will be 200 Day passes sold on Saturday Only. Sales will start at 9:00 AM when Registration opens. • We will be asking the standard screening questions of all staff and attendees when they pick up their con badge. –Do you have a fever? –Do you have a loss of taste or smell, new cough, sore throat? –Have you or someone you have been exposed to been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the past 2 weeks? –Are you waiting for test results from within the past 48 hours?

• Face masks must be worn in all hotel public space, as well as our event space. • The area includes all of the rst oor and the meeting rooms on the second oor. This does not include your hotel room. • The only time masks are not required in convention space is when a panelist is presenting. This is to assist with lipreading for attendees with hearing issues. • There will be touchless hand sanitizer stations throughout the hotel as well as hand sanitizer available at various staffed locations- Registration, Volunteers, Info desk, the Bridge, Recharge, Program/Guests HQ, Marketplace Check-in

Would you like to share your passion of all things otaku with your little ones? Have you ever skipped a convention because you could not bring your children along? During the Anime Iowa Convention, Family Programming provides panels and other activities that families with children can enjoy together. It is important to note that Family Programming is not a child care service. Although Family Programming does give priority to families with children, all attendees are encouraged to participate. The goal of Family Programming is to spread appreciation for anime and Japanese Culture to a new generation in a fun and family-friendly way!

Hall Cosplay Have you ever wanted to compete in the Mainstage Cosplay but you get stage fright? Want to show off your character’s personality and quirks but shy away from the big competitions? Then try the AnimeIowa Hall Cosplay Contest! What do I do, you ask? All you need to do for this contest is show up in Cosplay Central during the times listed above, ll out a form (no need to register in advance), and pose for a picture from our contest photographer! Easy, right? The Cosplay staff will then vote to select the winners for each day and from those selections, an overall winner will be chosen. The winners will be announced during the Mainstage Cosplay awards ceremony. Cannot attend the Mainstage Cosplay on Saturday and you won? No problem! You can pick up your award on Sunday in Cosplay Central!

The Categories: You may enter in Workmanship, Performance, or both categories.

The Divisions: PLEASE NOTE: Divisions have changed for the 2021 year due to attendance limits. Please pay attention when selecting your division on your entry form Novice: You may enter at this division if you have no more than 2 major awards (Best in Division, Best in Show) at a previous AnimeIowa Masquerade or at any anime convention of equal to or greater than previous year’s AnimeIowa size. Master: You many enter the Master division if you have won 3 or more major awards at previous AnimeIowa Masquerades or a convention of equal or greater size than AnimeIowa. Any contestant may elect to “compete up” and enter in the Master Division. Professional costumers’ must enter in the Master Division. If people pay for your costume work, even if you have other jobs that pay “the bills”, you are considered a professional. Your entry may be moved up to your appropriate division at the discretion of the judges or Cosplay Department Head. The AnimeIowa Art Show and Auction is returning to AI 2021 with a new name. And we can’t wait to see your art works on display. This year the Art show has a new home on the second floor in the Clark Meeting room Hours open to Attendees Friday 3:00pm to 8:00pm • Saturday 10:00am to 8:00mp • Sunday 10:00am to Noon Bidding on Artworks All art works entered into the silent auction will have a tag for bidding. The tag will show three prices. The starting price for bidding. – Listed as Min Bid. No bids below this price will be considered a valid bid. The buy it now price – Listed as BIN only available if you are the rst bidder on the piece. If someone else has a bid before you then the piece is no longer available to the buy it now option. The art work will stay on display in the Art show until Sunday noon. And a buy it on Sunday only price – Price an artwork that has not previous been purchased via BIN or bidding can be sold on Sunday. Artworks will sell rst come rst serve on Sunday only. No bidding required. Bring the artwork up to the Art Show desk and purchase it. There will be a section of the bidding tag to register your bid. – Enter your badge #, full name, and bid amount (or buy it now BIN) Not all art works on display will be for silent auction. – If the tag is labeled NFS it is not for sale. No bids will be accepted. Bidding is over at 8:00pm on Saturday. Purchased art works must be picked up by Sunday Noon. Payment of Purchases If an attendee uses the buy it now option to bid on and buy an artwork. – The person should mark the bid tag with their badge #, full name, and BIN on the space for the bid. – Proceed to the Art Show desk and pay for your purchase by cash, check, or Card. – After payment the piece will be marked as sold. Charity Project The Charity Project at AnimeIowa is about being a good neighbor, and giving back to the community. We work with local charities and programs to help bring light to their causes, and do fundraising and other support for them. To achieve this goal we host the annual AnimeIowa Charity Auction. You can also donate at any of the donation buckets located at various places throughout the convention and at the info desk where you can learn more about the charity at AnimeIowa. The Charity that AnimeIowa has chosen this year is The Iowa Asian Alliance We chose this Organization because of the work they do to promote the Asian Community in Iowa. This is especially important due to the treatment that the Asian population in Iowa and across the country are currently experiencing.

Sheryl Anne Denny was a beloved member of our AnimeIowa Family. She attended her first AnimeIowa convention in 2010 with her sister and friends and continued attending until 2016 when she joined the AnimeIowa Sta. She enjoyed working registration and getting to meet all of the attendees and seeing all the dierent cosplays; as she was an avid cosplayer herself. Some of her favorites were her burlesque Harley Quinn to Shin Mori from Ronin Warriors. She was a big fan of magical girl and magical boy anime including Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Saint Seiya, and Ronin Warriors to name a few. Anime influenced a lot of her artwork as well, with Sailor Moon being a big inspiration in her pursuit of her comic, Luminary Alliance. Sheryl loved art and was hardly ever seen without a sketchbook and pen or pencil.

Sheryl was a bright bundle of positive energy; always running up to people she knew for hugs, laughing at a silly pun or making one, sharing stories and pictures of her four cats, or being that person when you just needed someone to talk to.
