Enhancing Diversity Knowledge Through Marine Citizen Science and Social Platforms: the Case of Hermodice Carunculata (Annelida, Polychaeta)
diversity Article Enhancing Diversity Knowledge through Marine Citizen Science and Social Platforms: The Case of Hermodice carunculata (Annelida, Polychaeta) Maja Krželj 1, Carlo Cerrano 2 and Cristina Gioia Di Camillo 2,* 1 University Department of Marine Studies, University of Split, 21000 Split, Croatia; [email protected] 2 Department of Life and Environmental Sciences, Polytechnic University of Marche, 60131 Ancona, Italy; c.cerrano@staff.univpm.it * Correspondence: c.dicamillo@staff.univpm.it Received: 16 June 2020; Accepted: 9 August 2020; Published: 12 August 2020 Abstract: The aim of this research is to set a successful strategy for engaging citizen marine scientists and to obtain reliable data on marine species. The case study of this work is the bearded fireworm Hermodice carunculata, a charismatic species spreading from the southern Mediterranean probably in relation to global warming. To achieve research objectives, some emerging technologies (mainly social platforms) were combined with web ecological knowledge (i.e., data, pictures and videos about the target species published on the WWW for non-scientific purposes) and questionnaires, in order to invite people to collect ecological data on the amphinomid worm from the Adriatic Sea and to interact with involved people. In order to address future fruitful citizen science campaigns, strengths and weakness of each used method were illustrated; for example, the importance of informing and thanking involved people by customizing interactions with citizens was highlighted. Moreover, a decisive boost in people engagement may be obtained through sharing the information about citizen science project in online newspapers. Finally, the work provides novel scientific information on the polychete’s distribution, the northernmost occurrence record of H. -

GRAD OTOČAC TURISTIČKA ZAJEDNICA GRADA OTOČCA STRATEGIJA RAZVOJA TURIZMA GRADA OTOČCA I GACKE ( Nacrt ) Otočac, prosinac 2019. 1.

U to vrijeme sve više jača velikosrpski šovinizam i ekspanzi- onizam. 198 MemorabiLika Na gospodarstvo općine poguban učinak imali su prije i tijekom 1990. visoka stopa inflacije, nelikvidnost, pad industrijske proizvodnje i niska proizvodnost. -

Map 20 Pannonia-Dalmatia Compiled by P. Kos and M. Šašel Kos, 1995
Map 20 Pannonia-Dalmatia Compiled by P. Kos and M. Šašel Kos, 1995 Introduction The map covers very heterogeneous landscapes ranging from the Adriatic coast to the Alps, and from the mountainous interiors of the provinces of Dalmatia and Pannonia with their rich ore sources to the Pannonian plain. The current state of research–to some degree reflected by the map–is uneven. Thus the Carinthian province of Austria (Piccottini 1989), Slovenia (ANSl 1975), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (ALBiH) are better explored topographically than other regions where no compilations of archaeological sites have been published. The results of topographical research conducted over the past thirty years by Bojanovski (1988) are of great importance. Much antiquarian and topographic information has been collected for Histria and Venetia by Vedaldi Iasbez (1994), with particular attention to Greek and Latin writers. Similarly substantial collection and assessment of data for the Dalmatian coast and islands are provided by Kozličić (1990). TIR Tergeste (1961), TIR Aquincum (1968) and TIR Naissus (1976) are also of value for the areas they cover, though not always reliable. Mócsy’s work (RE Suppl. 9 Pannonia) remains fundamental for the province of Pannonia. As Kozličić (1986) has shown, since antiquity geomorphological changes along the Dalmatian and Istrian coasts have been minimal, if only because no very large rivers flow into the Adriatic; the map therefore retains the modern coastline. The coast of the eastern Adriatic is, however, sinking at a minimal rate annually (Šegota 1976). Geographic names by no means always appear in the nominative in the Greek and Latin sources; the point applies especially to ItAnt, ItBurd, TabPeut and GeogRav, which often represent the only evidence. -

Ključne riječi: cestovna mreža, razvitak, prometnice SUMMARY Due to a favorable geographical position of the Lika – Senj County road network, it is necessary to improve its connection with all the other road networks all over Croatia.
