ESMA Tech Talk August 2006 Volume 103 In This Issue ESMA Opens A New Branch in Deira - Dubai ESMA Industrial Enterprises has a new location in • ESMA Opens A New the heart of the trading zone of Deira. This location, Branch in Deira - which is strategically located close to the Hardware Dubai Market, Electrical Market and Refrigeration Market, is located close to Al Maktoum Hospital. This facility • Parker Extends Its shall cater for the immediate requirements of the Unique ‘Snap- customers unable to visit Jebel Ali. They shall stock Together’ Tubing the standard range of items for a faster response and Clamp Range better service with full access to the main stocks held in their Central Warehouse. For details, please contact them on 04-2293545. • Exotic Material Manifolds Provide Optimal Solutions for Parker Extends Its Unique ‘Snap-Together’ Tubing Aggressive Media Applications Clamp Range ESMA has extended the versatility of its novel one-piece clamp for instrumentation tubing, Snap-Trap®, with a new Contact Us fitting tool and accessories from Parker Instrumentation. ESMA Industrial Enterprises Jebel Ali Free Zone, Snap-Trap® clamps can be fitted in seconds, reducing Dubai – U.A.E. installation time by up to 80% compared with some Tel: +971 4 8839100 alternative systems which require the assembly of up to 12 Fax: +971 4 8839495 parts. Email: [email protected] Already widely used in the Norwegian sector, the clamps are highly resistant to ESMA Industrial Enterprises corrosion and comply with the NORSOK offshore standard. Just two sizes of Snap- Mussafah Indl Area, Trap® handle the spectrum of metric and imperial instrumentation tubing diameters Abu Dhabi – U.A.E. up to 25mm/1 inch, avoiding the specification, purchasing, stocking and day-to-day Tel: +971 2 5544300 handling overheads associated with existing systems - which can require anything up Fax: +971 2 5544360 Email: [email protected] to 24 parts to provide the same solution. Made from stainless steel, Snap-Trap® is a square component with a U-shaped body ESMA Industrial Enterprises and a hinged top arm. As the arm closes, it progressively grips the tubing using a Near Al-Maktoum Hospital, ratchet-style mechanism. The flexibility of this action allows each clamp to Dubai – U.A.E. accommodate a wide range of tube sizes. The smaller 27mm-square Snap-Trap® Tel: +971 4 2293545 accepts 6 to 12mm or 1/4 to 1/2 inch tube sizes; the larger 47mm-square clamp Fax: +971 4 2293599 Email: [email protected] accepts tubes of 12 to 25mm or 1/2 to 1 inch. Snap-Trap's® novel gripping action is complemented by a simple and effective means of mounting on tube and cable trays. At the base of the clamp are small protruding feet, plus a second hinge which allows the feet to be moved together momentarily for clipping into a mounting slot. As the clamp regains its square shape for gripping the tube, these feet lock into the base. This technique allows the clamps to be mounted, without extra components, onto cable trays, cable ladders, angle iron, etc. If a clamp needs to be fitted to a panel or other special surface, bracket accessories are available. Snap-Trap® provides cost savings for users in two ways. The primary advantage is in reduced labour. On a witnessed trial against two leading systems, three tube runs Page 1 of 2 requiring six clamps were completed in around a sixth and a quarter of the time respectively. This gain in labour productivity is multiplied each time the clamp is accessed. The second major benefit comes from the lower life-cycle overheads of acquiring and using the clamps, through the obvious simplification of having to deal with only one or two components. Exotic Material Manifolds Provide Optimal Solutions for Aggressive Media Applications Parker Instrumentation has extended the versatility of its high-integrity manifold range, with new exotic alloy versions to assure corrosion-free performance in a wider range of fluid instrumentation applications. Now available in materials including Titanium, Monel, 6Mo, Hastelloy, Inconel, Incolloy and Super Duplex - as well as standard stainless steel - the manifolds allow users to optimise protection against the aggressive media found in chemical, oil, gas and other processes. The material options are available for all of Parker’s H Series of manifolds. This is the company’s new full range of manifolds resulting from the combination of its own designs which now offers solutions for every major industrial process instrumentation application. Already offering unique features aimed at enhancing reliability such as the ability to minimise the number of potential leak paths, and eliminate any need for Contact Us sealants when making connections – the exotic material options add a valuable weapon for Instrumentation Engineers designing for problematic environmental ESMA Industrial Enterprises conditions. Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai – U.A.E. Tel: +971 4 8839100 Key to the availability of this new option is Parker’s long experience of manufacturing Fax: +971 4 8839495 of exotic-material tube fittings. Parker has a well-developed supply chain for exotic Email: [email protected] alloys, plus a great deal of know-how for machining and shaping these difficult materials. Its exotic tube fittings are widely specified by oil and gas exploration organizations in particular, and the new manifold options greatly extend the choice ESMA Industrial Enterprises available to such organizations – providing a single source of supply for Mussafah Indl Area, instrumentation systems destined for corrosion-prone environments. Abu Dhabi – U.A.E. Tel: +971 2 5544300 Fax: +971 2 5544360 The H Series range includes 2-, 3- and 5- valve manifolds for pressure and flow Email: [email protected] transmitters, double-block-and-bleed assemblies and monoflanges and distribution manifolds – as well as discrete valves. This portfolio is backed by a design centre and fast-response manufacturing operation at Parker Instrumentation’s European ESMA Industrial Enterprises headquarters in Europe. A key facet of the operation is a computer-controlled ordering Near Al-Maktoum Hospital, system, which gives users many options such as graphite packing for high temperature Dubai – U.A.E. performance, NACE, safety protection mechanisms, soft seating for gaseous media, Tel: +971 4 2293545 Fax: +971 4 2293599 and cleaning for oxygen service.
