Ann Veronica Janssens is a sculptor of light, sound and space. Ann Veronica Janssens almost always works in a minimal way without really belonging to the minimal art. However, the fact that her work is sometimes associated with the minimalist movement is due to the clear design and the choice of materials: transparent, glossy or, on the contrary, compacted and apparently inaccessible. Professionally framed in white baking frame for an optimal display of the artwork. The American packing artist Christo has temporarily stopped his mega project "Over the river" in Colorado in protest against President Donald Trump. "My project on the Arkansas River benefits the federal government and the federal government has a new landlord, Donald Trump, that I don't want to have anything to do with," Christo motivates his decision. The American packing artist Christo (81) has been working on his project "Over the river" in Colorado for more than twenty years. Christo came up with the project together with his wife Jeanne-Claude, who died in 2009. Christo has already invested more than 12 million euros in the project in Colorado. The intention was to cover the Arkansas River over a stretch of almost 70 kilometers with a silver canopy. The project would become Christo's largest artwork ever in the US and cost more than 40 million euros in total. Christo Javacheff is a world-famous visual artist. He was born in Gabrovo in Bulgaria and studied art in Sofia and Vienna. In Paris he had close ties with the nouveau realists. Christo and Jeanne-Claude have actually carried out their ideas beyond the artists who bring conceptual art where it remains a concept. Christo from the United States always worked with his wife Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon. The artistic strategy of Christo and Jeanne-Claude was to "dress up" large, striking buildings or landscapes with fabric. The packaging of buildings or objects leads to the abstraction of these subjects. Examples of this type of work are the Pont Neuf in Paris (1985), the Reichstag in Berlin (1995). They carried out an art project in 2004 in Central Park in New York. size: 91x124 cm Kavel Omschrijving Openingsbod 22 Luc TUYMANS - Heart 1320€ Double-sided screen print on canvas - drawn and numbered in black marker. These works are framed in white baking frames with non-reflecting glass to make the works stand out better. Luc Tuymans (Mortsel, 1958) is a Belgian painter. He works in Antwerp. He is married to Carla Arocha, an artist from Venezuela. Tuymans has a fundamental distrust of the truth value of images. He calls his paintings 'authentic forgeries' and are often derived from existing photos. Against the easy transparency of the ubiquitous, quickly recorded images in media and advertising, he places his disorienting paintings. According to Tuymans, a fully-fledged psychological portrait of an individual is impossible. That is why the framing of his portraits is often incomplete. Luc Tuymans received an art education at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Brussels and then studied art history at the VUB from 1982 to 1986.

  • Continuum 119 a Belgian Art Perspective
CONTINUUM 119 A BELGIAN ART PERSPECTIVE OFF-PROGRAM GROUP SHOW 15/04/19 TO 31/07/19 Art does not belong to anyone, it usually passes on from one artist to the next, from one viewer to the next. We inherit it from the past when it served as a cultural testimony to who we were, and we share it with future generations, so they may understand who we are, what we fear, what we love and what we value. Over centuries, civilizations, societies and individuals have built identities around art and culture. This has perhaps never been more so than today. As an off-program exhibition, I decided to invite five Belgian artists whose work I particularly like, to answer back with one of their own contemporary works to a selection of older works that helped build my own Belgian artistic identity. In no way do I wish to suggest that their current work is directly inspired by those artists they will be confronted with. No, their language is mature and singular. But however unique it may be, it can also be looked at in the context of the subtle evolution from their history of art, as mutations into new forms that better capture who these artists are, and the world they live in. Their work can be experienced within an artistic continuum, in which pictorial elements are part of an inheritance, all the while remaining originally distinct. On each of these Belgian artists, I imposed a work from the past, to which they each answered back with a recent work of their own.

The Belgian Contribution to Global 1968 GERD-RAINER HORN ____Senior Lecturer in 20th Century History, Department of History – University of Warwick The calendar year of 1968 is almost universally associated with student un- rest. Belgium fits into this picture rather well, with major student mobilisa- tions in Leuven and Brussels occurring in the first half of that notoriously restless calendar year.1 Yet all-inclusive assessments of the social movements and political reconfigurations happening that year, not only in Belgium but elsewhere in Europe and North America as well, must go beyond the rela- tively narrow confines of university student milieus. For the purposes of this essay, I propose also to address fresh developments occurring within the worlds of labor and cultural productions.

Baugniet Marcel-Louis. (J.

  • When Art Takes the Metro
WHEN ART TAKES THE METRO... Get ready to take a unique journey into the heart of the largest underground art gallery in Brussels. This artistic route will take you on a journey of discovery of more than 90 works of art that have been adding the personal touch to the Brussels metro for more than 40 years. The fruit of the imagination and work of artists from various backgrounds, these works are unique thanks to their style, materials, volumes, the images they evoke and the atmosphere they create, like springboards for wandering spirits. In the early 1960s, when a metro project Its recommendations are submitted became a reality in Brussels, the designers to the Regional Minister for Mobility imagined this new underground and Public Works, who also proposes network as an open, lively and original artworks to be incorporated in the metro. environment where Art also needed a More than 90 works of art currently place.
