The game at Ainslie last weekend was a beauty. It was physical, emotional and very dramatic. Having been given a fair ‘going over’ at one end of the ground Michael Ghobrial was thrown forward for the final quarter in the coaching move of the year. It is reasonable to describe Michael as an awkward football with seemingly one too many limbs. No person is safe in a contest with him as there are limbs flying everywhere but in getting p.p. several shots at goal in the last quarter, when the game was at its most fierce, Michael was prepared to put everything on the line for victory. When games are in the balance some players rise and some disappear. ‘Ghobbers’ was the match winner coolly slotting a goal from a sharp angle to get his team within a goal and then belting another one through from the boundary line to ‘ice’ the result. The President’s wife couldn’t watch, advice was flowing freely from both sides of the fence but in the end it was almost with nonchalance that the defender turned forward collective himself a goal when it mattered most. Although strictly speaking his body wasn’t on the line but in reality far more was. For the final quarter heroics Michael Ghobrial wins the Kingston Physio Body on the Line Award this week. Problem was so was Keith Miller and Corey Saitta. Some supporters assume the Footy Manager only needs to stroll down BOOK TODAY the aisle of a supermarket and pluck a big man off the shelf they are that easy to find. Once Garry looked out his own window and saw local Goliath Mat Porter it was clear that all the hunting was futile. The Magpies already had a big man on its books that was capable of leading them to September action. Saturday night at ANZ Stadium Porter took on the Swans giants and played possibly his best game of football. ZIP INTO ZEFFERS!
