    SOUTH INDIAN CUISINE South Indian Cuisine is a term used to refer to the cuisines found in the four southern states of India, namely Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. As opposed to North Indian cuisine, there is limited use of garam masala and other dried spices except cardamom, black pepper and turmeric. South Indian cuisine is rice based. Rice is combined with lentils to make wonderful dosas, idlis, vadas and uttapams. These items are glorious and delicious besides being nourishing and digestible (due to the fermenting process). They are combined with sambhar (dal), rasam (tamarind dal), dry and curried vegetable and pachadi (yogurt). Their rice preparations are also masterpieces like biryani from Hyderabad, lemon rice and rice seasoned with coconut peanuts, tamarind, chilies, curry leaves, urad dal and fenugreek seeds. South Indian chutneys are made of tamarind, coconut, peanuts, dal, fenugreek seeds, and cilantro. Meals are followed by coffee. South Indian dals and curries are more soupy than North Indian dals and curries. South Indian cuisine is also hotter. Coconut milk straight from the nut is a common beverage and sight in South India. Coffee is very popular in South India and Madras coffee is popular in South Indian restaurants throughout the world. The South Indian food is a brilliant blend of flavors, colors, seasoning, nutritional balance, fragrance, taste, and visual appeal. Businesses had to rethink strategies and people had to modify their behaviours. Not getting into details, but I personally feel that every crisis is an opportunity to reinvent ourselves, create new avenues for success and emerge stronger. As businesses, we don’t get to choose market conditions, competition, and most certainly not pandemics of this sort! However, what’s in our hands is the agility and boldness to face all these. In 2020, we almost stopped doing things that we once considered mundane and took for granted, like meeting friends over drinks or meals over the weekend, shopping at local grocery stores, or even just stepping out of our homes; and we incorporated into our routine, things that we would once have found indulgent or unnecessary, like wearing masks, sanitising our hands repeatedly and having every last thing home delivered.

  • Notice Dated 20 Th June 2016 for Operationalization of Standards Of
    Notice for operationalization of standards of Food Additives for ues in various Food Categories as finalized after considering stakeholder comments in response to the Draft notification dated 04.08.2015 The draft amendment notification No. 11/09/Reg/Harmoniztn/2014 was notified in the Gazette of India on 04.08.2015 and uploaded on the FSSAI website on 13.10.2015 for inviting suggestions and comments from various stakeholders. 2. Pending finalization of the above draft notification, some of the standards of food additives provisions in the above mentioned notification, where no comments were received, were segregated and made operational in addition to the provisions contained in Regulations 3.1 of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 and the same were uploaded on FSSAI website vide notice dated 23.12.2015. 3. Meanwhile, the draft notified regulations along with comments and suggestions received from stakeholders were reviewed and finalized in the Scientific Panel and Scientific Committee. The Food Authority in its 20th meeting held on 27.01.2016 approved the final notification of food additives provisions in various food categories. 4. These finalized food additives provisions are now being operationalized pending final notification of the amendment to Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2016. These provisions will supersede the provisions of Food Additives which were previously operationalized on 23.12.2015 together with provisions contained in Regulations 3.1 of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011, as mentioned in Point No. 2 above.
