Michelle Durand Ticket Office .................................. 561-237-9000 violin Violinist Amaia Lizaso recently won fist prize at the Spanish National Bizkaia Award in her native Bilbao, Spain. In 2000, she studied at the Paris National Regional Conservatory and won first prize at the U.F.A.M. competition in France. She also won the conservatory award for chamber music. Amaia earned her first recognition at age 15 in the "Fundacion Serafin Argaiz Santellices" and performed with Kengo Sakashita's Japanese Koto orchestra as the winner of the competition. She has appeared in recitals throughout Spain and performed in master classes with distinguished musicians including The Orpheus Quartet, Mauricio Fulks, Felix Ayo and Vadim Brodsky. She has performed at the Brasov Music Festival in Rumania. Amaia has been a member of the Youth Basque National Orchestra with performances in France, Portugal and Spain. She has also played in the chamber music series concerts with the Bilbao Symphonic Orchestra. Amaia is currently studying with Artist Faculty Sergiu Schwartz at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.
