Fixin "La Mazière" 2015
FIXIN "LA MAZIÈRE" 2015 At each step, uncompromising quality. Only the best for excellence lovers. Our signature for over 250 years. Varietal 100% Pinot Noir. Tasting notes Color: dark ruby-red tinted with deep purple glints. Nose: charming combination of fresh red fruits and toasted notes. Mouth: Full-bodied and firm, with powerfull tannins. Spicy aromas and especially vanilla linger in a generous finale. Serving suggestions In its youth, the ideal serving temperature is around 15°C / 59°F. With time, its delicate aromas will need caring and so will the serving temperature. So, 18°C (64°F) will be perfect for a wine above 8 years. Ageing potential Fixin for its rich and full-bodied structure can easily age for 8 to 10 years, depending on the vintage characteristics. Origins The Cuvée Signature range is a selection of reputed villages, Premier and Grand Crus from Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune principally. These wines are produced in very limited quantities and every step from harvesting to ageing is mastered by our winemaker. Fixin is a Côte de Nuits appellation which takes its name from the village of Fixin, nestled at the entry of the combe north of Gevrey-Chambertin. This village appellation spreads over 100 hectares, of which 19 are classified as Premiers Crus, with only 4% producing white wines. The plot "La Mazière" stands north of the village, along the Route des Grands Crus and spreads over 2.2 hectares. Its name comes from the latin word MACERIA that refers to an enclosure wall made in dry masonry and to some extent, also refers to the ruins of stone houses. -

With more than 1,500 years of cultivation, it is hard to argue against the Musique et Vin festival by holding an auction for special bottles donated by winemakers this belief. However, to The Wine Forum, Burgundy is more than just pure, scholarly wine. To us, whom we will be visiting and splitting the proceeds equally between these two worthy causes. Burgundy represents all that we as a group stand for—that is, that fine wine is not a right, but a And what a tour we have lined up! We commence with a Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Cru tasting privilege. While records show his ancestors practiced viticulture as far back as the 17th century, the domaine as we know it today truly came to be after the marriage of Romain’s parents, Denise Merme and Jean Taupenot, in 1963. The domaine’s diverse vineyard sites across both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune can be traced back to this union of holdings from the Taupenot family, based in Saint-Romain, with those belonging to the Mermes, from Morey-Saint-Denis. Romain recalls helping out at the domaine as a child, assisting with harvest and selling his grandfather’s wines along the side of the route nationale to vacationers passing through Burgundy on their summer journey south. But his total integration into the family business would come much later, as he first pursued a career in finance following business studies in Paris. In 1998, he returned home to assume management of the domaine, which he now runs alongside his sister, Virginie. With 9 hectares in the Côte de Nuits and another 4.5 hectares in the Côte de Beaune, Romain and Virginie now produce nineteen different wines across seventeen appellations. -

CRAFT + ESTATE PRESENTS Location: Morey-Saint-Denis Grape Variety: Pinot Noir Domaine Michel Magnien has evolved into a Burgundy producer of a singular style and philosophy in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis. Michel Magnien was born in 1946 and worked alongside his father Bernard from an early age. The Magniens sold their grapes to the local cooperative until 1993 when his son Frédéric joined the family business and persuaded his father to bottle the entire harvest themselves. Frédéric Magnien began experimenting with organic practices in the late 1990s and the entire production was certified biodynamic by Demeter in 2015. Comprised of the Chablis, Côte d’Or, Côte Chalonnaise, Mâconnais and Beaujolais regions, Burgundy occupies a long and narrow stretch of vineyards in eastern France. The critical effect of terroir in Burgundy is expressed in its complex classification system. • Vineyards are divided into separate appellations along terroir France boundaries; the full range of classification levels from broadest to the most distinguished follows: District (e.g. Beaujolais or Chablis), Village (e.g. Pommard), Premier Cru (e.g. Pommard les Rugiens) and Grands Cru (e.g. Clos Vougeot). • As a result of Burgundy’s rules of inheritance, vineyard ownership is quite fragmented, with multiple owners for most crus. The Clos de Vougeot vineyard, for example, is split between 80 different owners. • Though soils vary, clay and limestone predominate in the Côte d’Or and granite is common in Beaujolais.
