1 AT RISE: MAGIC MIRROR ENTERS and crosses DOWN CENTER.

MIRROR: (Narrates.) Once upon a time there was a beautiful queen. (QUEEN ENTERS the castle, DOWN

5 LEFT.) But she was as vain as she was beautiful.

QUEEN: Mirror, mirror, on the wall,

Who’s the fairest of them all?

MIRROR: (Narrates.) See what I mean? (Crosses to QUEEN and speaks to her. [NOTE: MIRROR will stay ONSTAGE

10 DOWN LEFT for the entire play.]) You are . It is true.

No one is as fair as you. QUEEN: Ah, what a relief!

MIRROR: (Narrates.) Can you believe that? She asked me this same question every day, until… 15 QUEEN: Mirror, mirror, on the wall,

Who’s the fairest of them all? MIRROR: (To QUEEN.) You are fair. It is true, But there is one more fair than you.

QUEEN: Say whaaaaat?! Who is she? 20 MIRROR: Her name is Snow White. QUEEN: (Calls.) Royal Hunter! HUNTER: (ENTERS DOWN LEFT.) Yes, my Queen?

QUEEN: Bring me Snow White! HUNTER: Of course, my Queen. Who is that?

25 QUEEN: Just bring her to me! HUNTER: By your command. (EXITS DOWN LEFT. QUEEN tosses her hair. HUNTER RE-ENTERS DOWN LEFT with

QUEEN: Mmmhmmm… (Pulls HUNTER aside.) Take her out to the woods and get rid of her. (Draws finger across her throat.) HUNTER: Umm, okay. Wait, really? 10 QUEEN: Do not disobey me! HUNTER: Of course not. I’m sorry! (Escorts SNOW WHITE OFF DOWN LEFT.) QUEEN: It’s good to be bad. Mwahahahahaha! (EXITS 15 DOWN LEFT, laughing.) MIRROR: (Narrates.) As the queen enjoyed her evil laugh, the hunter took Snow White to the Dark Forest. (HUNTER ENTERS UP LEFT, followed ON by SNOW WHITE. They cross into the forest, UP CENTER.) 20 SNOW WHITE: Why did you bring me to the Dark Forest? HUNTER: Well… it’s a little embarrassing SNOW WHITE: You can tell me. I promise I won’t laugh. HUNTER: The queen wanted me to bring you here to kill you. SNOW WHITE: See, I’m not laughing.

25 HUNTER: I don’t want to kill you. I’ll just tell the queen I did.

But you have to stay in the woods so she doesn’t know.

SNOW WHITE: Thank you, good hunter. I will not forget your kindness.

HUNTER: You’re welcome! And my name is Gary, by the

30 way. Thanks for asking. (EXITS UP LEFT.)

I’ll take care of it. (Shouts.) Hey! Wake up! 5 SNOW WHITE: (Wakes up with a start.) Oh my! What’s going on? SNOOZY: You’re in my bed. SILLY: If your name is Goldlilocks, you’re in the wrong story! 10 SNOW WHITE: (Sits up.) That’s silly, but I’m sorry! I was lost in the woods and just needed to rest. BOSSY: Harrumph! SILLY: His name is Bossy. MEANY: Nobody asked you. (Refers to SILLY.) His name is Silly. 20 JUMPY: Do you have to yell? (Refers to MEANY.) That’s why we call him Meany. SNOOZY: Don’t worry. She’s just Jumpy. That’s her name. SILLY: Now, can you get out of the bed?

SNOW WHITE: Of course! (Stands.)

25 SNOOZY: (Crawls onto the bed.) I’m always just so tired.

DOING THE HEIMLICH MANEUVER

It is critical to mention that one should never perform the actual Heimlich on a person who is not choking. PRINCE HEIMLICH should face the audience directly, with SNOW WHITE positioned in front of him. By squarely facing the audience, the PRINCE can jerk his arms in a squeezing motion without actually performing the maneuver. The apple bit “popping” out of SNOW WHITE’s “mouth” can be achieved in several ways. Easiest is to get a squeezing “pop gun” toy that makes a great sound and shoots a small, harmless . An actor standing behind SNOW WHITE and PRINCE HEIMLICH fires it when the PRINCE “squeezes” SNOW WHITE. Another way to do it is have an actor turn his/her back to the audience and make a popping sound with finger in mouth, and another actor toss a piece of sponge or small ball made of paper. SOUND Spooky forest sounds, trumpet fanfare. When the dwarves first enter, optional entrance music such Peer Gynt’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King” could be played.
