La ville de Nîmes a fait un effort considé- rable et les co-organisateurs ont parfaitement rempli le rôle qui leur était imparti. Remercions tous les bénévoles qui ont participé à la réussite de cet événement, qu’ils soient: officiels, arbitres ou délégués de la FIE. J’aurai garde d’oublier les médias, les tireurs et leur encadrement. Cette grande fête de l’escrime mondiale a, je pense, impressionné toutes les personnalités qui sont venues nous visiter et qui ont pu constater les progrès de notre sport dans sa présentation et la ponctualité avec laquelle se sont déroulés les différents événements. Merci au directoire technique qui a su maîtriser un horaire imposé par la télévi- sion qui, bien que nécessaire, impliquait une grande rigueur dans l’organisation. Nous comprenons que des tireurs qui réussissent avec une certaine tech- nique ne veuillent pas la modifier, mais nous devons veiller au maintien de notre tradition. Rien n’autorise qui que ce soit à utiliser des paroles blessantes et discourtoises. Rien ne peut-être toléré qui porterait atteinte à l’éthique de notre sport. A Cuba chacun se déterminera en fonction de ses convictions et si le Congrès estime que tout va pour le mieux dans le meilleur des mondes nous en serons satisfaits. L’arbitrage a été mis en cause lors de ces Championnats par deux grandes fédé- rations. Si nous voulons conserver la subjectivité dans la décision des arbitres, nous le concevons parfaitement, mais alors il sera nécessaire d’appliquer stricte- ment notre règlement pour toute intervention intempestive. Je pense que chacun fait ce qu’il croit devoir faire pour la sauvegarde de notre sport, restons courtois et ne faisons surtout pas de procès d’intention. La finta de cupé no puede ser una semi finta y pararse en la retirada de la hoja, sino que ha de acabar con una amenaza de la punta.

La manera de empuñar el arma tendería a apro- ximar la espada y el florete, sobre todo cuando el golpe es conducido. Todo golpe lanzado, a florete o a espada, se aproxima al sable por el “cassé” de la empuñadura.

Más que cualquier otra cosa, es la convención lo que distingue la espada del florete, y la manera de tocar debe permitir disociar el sable del florete. La
