CHECK YOUR STATUS – DOES IT APPLY TODAY? The NATIONAL DAIRY FARM ASSURED SCHEME does not cover cattle older than 100 days and under 30months. It is the Vendors responsibility to ensure that the information supplied at time of sale is correct and applies. Incorrect FA information may result in penalties which you are accountable for!! DE-HORNING CATTLE!!!!!!! An increased number of cattle with horns have been noticed at these sales. Buyers are requesting that vendors de-horn cattle,some buyers will not bid at cattle with horns. BATCHING CATTLE REDUCES YOUR COMMISSION!!!! Remember BATCHING store cattle & young bulls reduces your commission. YOUNG BULL VENDORS ► Vendors of young bulls are requested to deliver stock in sufficient time to enable them to be numbered and penned before the sale commences at 9.30am. ► Young Bulls missing the ballot – late arrival bulls which are unavailable at their allocated sale ballot time and as a consequence are sold at the end of the bulls, will receive an additional £5 per head levy. ► Un-entered young bulls will be sold at the end of the store cattle. This rule will be strictly adhered to. BREEDING CATTLE VENDORS ► All Breeding Cattle MUST BE IN THE MARKET for 11am to ensure paperwork is completed before the commencement of sale. Failure to be in the market on time may result in cattle been incorrectly numbered or information not being available at the time of sale, this is the vendors responsibility. ► Cattle on a CTS born on or after 1 st July 1996 must also be accompanied by a Green Passport. ALL CUSTOMERS ► ALL CUSTOMERS are requested to adhere to the bio security measures as displayed in the market. NOTE to ALL VENDORS & PURCHASERS All Vehicles, Trailers & Lorries to be removed immediately from the Docks after unloading or loading. IMPORTANT NOTICE All cattle presented for sale at the Market must be double tagged before they move off your holding. We are unable to accept Cattle onto these premises which are not correctly identified IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL VENDORS – please assist market staff All vendors must complete the usual green entry form and the additional white vendor form. Please use the lot numbers you have been allocated in the catalogue and assign each animal a lot number on the green form, and then instruct us on the white form which animals are to be batched together for sale and the sale order, and include any guide/reserve price you wish to place on the animal(s). If no reserve price is entered on the white vendor form, then the auctioneer will assume at the time of sale that the animals are to sell without reserve, or you may enter the instruction “sell”. When you arrive at market you may unload your trailer but remain on the docks. Please have your passports, green entry form and white vendor form on hand to pass in. Vendors may remain on site to represent cattle for sale whilst observing social distancing regulations. Thank you. If you have any questions regarding this then please do not hesitate to contact the office or an auctioneer. Please note the amended sale times on the front of this catalogue which are designed to assist us in carrying out social distancing measures between each sale section and allow the auction company to create safe areas for our staff to move to whilst buyers are offered the opportunity to inspect stock in the yard prior to sale. This means vendors of bulls and cows and suckler cattle must deliver their entries to the market strictly by 9.00am (no late arrivals) to allow for processing prior to viewing period. Vendors of store cattle to deliver their entries to market strictly between 9am and 11.00am (no late arrivals) to allow for cattle to be processed prior to the viewing period. Access for viewing is strictly controlled. The start of viewing is activated by a bell, which warns staff to vacate the penning area to a safe distance. Please sanitize hands on entry to pens. All buyers who want to attend the sale, or require cattle from the sale must register with the mart office by 12noon on Tuesday 1st September. The Auction Company extends our thanks to everyone for their understanding & cooperation at this time COVID 19 REGULATIONS From 8 th August 2020 Please note the following change from the above date : FACE COVERINGS – As from 8 th August the wearing of face coverings is MANDATORY in enclosed public spaces including Auction Houses. Wearing a face covering is mandatory at ALL our sales for ALL customers. Please bring one with you. VENDORS – Vendors may unload their trailers and stay to represent their stock being sold. Arrive on site and put paper work in the box on the docks then move your vehicle and wash out. Stay at your pen and sort stock or go to café until sale time. You can come to the sale ring side to represent stock during sale. All luck money must be stated on the Vendor Forms and is deducted at the rostrum. You may collect cheques/bacs statements from the office one person at a time. All VENDORS MUST SOCIALLY DISTANCE AT ALL TIMES. WE ASK THAT VENDORS MUST NOT APPROCH BUYERS AT THE RINGSIDE. DROP & GO – This system is still in place for anyone not comfortable with attending the mart. Please ensure stock comes with correctly completed paperwork. BUYERS – Must ring to register to attend all sales. Arrive at mart and book in at the security table on the main concourse. There is always a viewing period for buyers to go round the pens before sale. Buyers can enter the office one person at a time. All BUYERS MUST SOCIALLY DISTANCE AT ALL TIMES. CAFE – The Café is open to all customers and offering the Eat Out to Help Out scheme with discounted meals Mon Tues Wed during August. ALL CUSTOMERS – we need to be aware that there is a very real risk that a positive case of Covid 19 identified through Trace and Track to a premises could result in the closure of those premises for 14 days.     The Rylstone Parish Magazine March 2021 Editors Ramblings! I hope everyone is hanging in there. It’s getting a bit tedious now! It’s like having our own groundhog day. Nowhere to go, nothing to do. I’m probably feeling a bit sorry for myself this week as Neil’s away and we’ve just had Valentine’s day and it’s my birthday this coming week. I was just discussing with Katie what takeaway we may get to celebrate and I just wasn’t feeling it! I’m looking forward to going out with friends and having a nice cold glass of white wine with some beautifully prepared fish or sea food. Hmmm! Enjoying watching the Rugby 6 nations at the weekends though. Was pretty torn with the Calcutta Cup result. Being English I was supporting England but I was also supporting Scotland as the rest of the house are Scottish. It was a difficult decision! No solid news on our house move but hopefully we’ll know more by next month! Watch this space! Thank you so much for a donation of £30.00 this last month through internet banking. In areas of deep drift deposits frequent erosion gullies give hillside slopes a ribbed appearance • Steep-sided rocky gills cut through the gritstone, exposing underlying limestones and forming small waterfalls where rock ledges are crossed. Streams are shallow and rocky with steep, eroded sides of grass/heather covered banks, broadening to small rocky rivers at lower elevations • Landcover is primarily acid grassland with extensive areas of upland heath on Barden Moor and the eastern fringes of the plateau • Tree cover is often absent from the open moors, with scattered oak, mountain ash and birch on lower slopes or contained within sheltered gills. Linear stands of alder line watercourses at lower elevations. Conifer plantations are prominent and often blocky and intrusive in the northern and southern edges of the plateau fringe and on the slopes of the outlying hills • Artificial reservoirs are a feature of Appletreewick Moor, Winterburn Moor and Barden Moor • Settlement is sparse primarily comprising farmsteads along road corridors, and also around reservoirs and on the dales fringes.

    PROCTOR LINEAGE Geoffrey Proctor & Katherine Born 1450 Died 1524 Margaret Bullock Died 1525 Born 1453 Died 1525 Nether Bordley, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom GEOFFERY PROCTOR OF NORTHUMBERLAND ENGLAND FORMERLY PROCTOR’S STEAD The Proctor family, originally settled in Yorkshire, was established at Shawdon at the beginning of the sixteenth century, through the marriage of William Proctor of Nether Bordley to Isabel, daughter of John Lilburn of Shawdon. John Proctor, who exchanged Shawdon for the Dunston estate, married twice. Thomas Proctor, the eldest son of the first marriage, became ultimately the owner of Rock, whilst John proctor, the second son of the second marriage, succeeded under his father's will [Dated 12th July, 1708] to the land at Dunstan. The old tower, formerly known as Dunstan Hall, received from its new proprietors the name Proctor's Stead, by which it is geneally known at the present day. But though the name of the Proctors remains associated with the place, the family did not retain the property for any great length of time. Joihn Proctor, son of John Proctor and Elizabeth Ion, sold his land at Dunstan in 1778 to Daniel Craster for £7,700. In this way the old estate of the Wetwangs was added to that part of Dunstan which from ancient times had been the property of the Craster family. This portion of the township has descended to Mr. John Craster of Craster. The remainder of Dunstan was sold with the barony of Embleton, and has become the property of the Eyres' trustees. One of the earliest Proctor located so far is found in the "History Of Northumberland" Geoffery Proctor was born about 1450 in Nether Bordley, Craven, Yorkshire, England and died in 1525.

    Item No 10 Yorkshire Dales Access Forum – May 2021 Public Rights of Way Annual Report 2020/21 Purpose of the report 1. To receive comments from the Yorkshire Dales Access Forum (YDAF) on the Rights of Way Annual Report for the period April 2020 to March 2021, prior to submission to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority in June 2021. Background 2. The annual report (Appendix 1) identifies progress made on public rights of way maintenance against our targets in the Corporate Plan and highlights achievements. For the period April 2020 to March 2021this work was undertaken through delegation agreements with Cumbia County Council (CCC) and North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC). As part of these delegation agreements the Authority is required to submit a report to the county councils each year. 3. The Authority has taken on responsibility for rights of way maintenance functions, under delegation, because a well-managed rights of way network is important for delivery of the National Park Authority’s statutory purposes. Many people use the rights of way network to enjoy the special qualities of the area. A network that can be used with confidence is beneficial to visitors, land managers and residents alike. Over the past year the pandemic has highlighted the importance of the National Park, and its network of Public Rights of Way to the nation as a whole. 4. For obvious reasons, early in the year all but emergency works on Public Rights of Way were stopped for 10 weeks. Works resumed in May 2020, with the easing of the first lockdown and has continued throughout the rest of the year, adapting to the changes in restrictions as required.

    The Yorkshire Moors and Fells + Physical Influences The primary influences in the shaping of the upland landscapes of today are the varied geology of the National Park, from the raw, exposed and fascinating karst landscape of the limestone to the more subdued, darker landscapes of the sandstones, shales and gritstones and the impact of man (through historic woodland clearance and management of today’s vegetation cover). Limestone Moors and Pavements The geology of the limestone moors and pavements is dominated by the Great Scar Limestone, which comprises a number of layers of limestone beds of varying thickness and hardness and up to 200m in overall depth. The oldest layer of the Great Scar Limestone is the dark grey Kilnsey Limestone, seen outcropping most extensively within Wharfedale and Ribblesdale. Overlying the Kilnsey Limestone is the Horton Limestone, a light grey limestone with poorly developed bedding, which forms scree-covered slopes with sporadic scars in Wharfedale and Ribblesdale. Of a similar age is the Cove Limestone, which forms the spectacular cliff at Malham Cove, the lower half of Gordale Scar and the brow of Kilnsey Crag. Overlying these limestones is the Kingsdale Limestone, light grey in colour and about 120 metres thick. Typically, it has weathered to form a series of steps in Wharfedale, Littondale and Kingsdale, overlooking scree slopes. In the Malham area, Gordale Limestone takes the place of Kingsdale Limestone, forming the stepped upper cliffs at Gordale Scar. Within the limestone moorland, the primary outcrops of limestone occur in a chain west-east across the south of the National Park, following the line of the Craven Faults at Tow Scar and Scales Moor (near Kingsdale and Chapel-le-Dale); in an arc around the base of Ingleborough; at Giggleswick Scar, Langcliffe Scar, Malham Moor and Kilnsey Moor; and on the edge of Conistone Moor north of Grassington.
