Can- Dom- tate ino Choir School News A Newsletter for Alumni & Friends of Saint Thomas Choir School SUMMER/FALL 2017 SUMMER/FALL The Class of 2017 FROM THE HEADMASTER’ S DESK After fourteen years at Saint Thomas, I’ve become eligible for my first-ever sabbatical, a six-month period beginning on July 1, 2017. During my absence, Amy Francisco, our seasoned English teacher, will expand her responsibilities to serve as Acting Head of School. As the newsletter goes to press, I’m making final preparations for this exciting opportunity and passing the reins into Ms. Francisco’s capable hands. My time away will be divided between two spots rather unlike West 58th Street: Morocco and Marseille. I’ll be working in parishes with significant ministries to refugees, and the focus of my daily life and work will shift markedly from my “day job.” Rather than addressing the educational needs of young people, I’ll be helping persons from different creeds and cultures who seek a better life for themselves and their families, often against great adversity. As stimulating as these challenges will be, I shall miss the rhythm of our common life at Saint Thomas. Happily, time apart is beneficial: it reminds us of our many blessings and our capacity to build meaningful relationships in new contexts. I look forward to returning to Saint Thomas in January 2018 with fresh perspectives – and stories to share. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. –Charles F. Wallace, Headmaster GRADUATION The ninety-eighth commencement exercises of the Choir School were held on June 10. -

Proposed Downtown Berryville Hotel Berryville, Virginia 22611-1315 NKF Job No.: 19-0004412 Feasibility Study Prepared For: Mr. Nathan Stalvey President Berryville Main Street 23 East Main Street Berryville, VA 22611-1315 Prepared By: Newmark Knight Frank Hospitality, Gaming & Leisure Group Valuation & Advisory 1350 Euclid Avenue, Suite 300 Cleveland, OH 44115 1350 Euclid Avenue, Suite 300 Cleveland, OH 44115 July 19, 2019 Mr. Nathan Stalvey President Berryville Main Street 23 East Main Street Berryville, VA 22611-1315 RE: Feasibility Study of a Proposed Downtown Berryville Hotel Downtown Berryville , Berryville, Virginia NKF Job No.: 19-0004412 Newmark Knight Frank Valuation & Advisory, LLC has prepared a feasibility study of the referenced property in the following report. Summary of the Proposed Subject Property The feasibility study considers development of a proposed hotel in Downtown Berryville on or proximate to Main Street. The subject site has average access to major roadway (State Route 7) because of its proposed location in downtown Berryville's Main Street district, limiting its visibility and ease of ingress and egress from a major roadway. While the proposed site is proximate to some demand generators, the low density of commercial developments in the area is projected to be a weakness. Leisure attractions in Berryville and Clarke County including vineyards, historic manors and event venues, and Barns of Rose Hill will help mitigate this weakness. Visibility is considered to be average, relative to other historic downtown locations, due to its proposed multi- level configuration, assumed signage, and on or proximate to Main Street. State Route 7, which connects Berryville to neighboring Winchester and Leesburg, is less than a mile north from central downtown. -

1826 CHESTNUT ST Name of Resource: Aldine Theatre Proposed
ADDRESS: 1826 CHESTNUT ST Name of Resource: Aldine Theatre Proposed Action: Designation Property Owner: Sam’s Place Realty Associates LP Nominator: Kevin Block, Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia Staff Contact: Laura DiPasquale, [email protected] OVERVIEW: This nomination proposes to designate the property at 1826 Chestnut Street as historic and list it on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. The nomination contends that the former Aldine Theatre, constructed in 1921, is significant under Criteria for Designation A, E, and J. Under Criterion A, the nomination argues that the theatre has significant character, interest, or value as one of the last remaining first-run movie palaces in Philadelphia. Under Criterion E, the nomination explains that the Aldine was the work of prominent local builders William Steele & Sons. Under Criterion J, the nomination argues that the Aldine represents the commercial development of Chestnut Street in the prestigious Rittenhouse Square neighborhood after the turn of the twentieth century. Following the submission of the nomination and notification to the property owner, the nominator uncovered additional information not presented in the nomination, which is posted on the Historical Commission’s website as additional information. The Committee on Historic Designation previously reviewed a nomination for the property in March 1986 and recommended against designation owing to the loss of architectural integrity of the interior and the front doors. The Historical Commission adopted the recommendation of the Committee at its April 1986 meeting and declined to designate the property. The staff notes that the interior of the property is not under consideration, and that the Historical Commission routinely designates properties that have alterations. -
1 the Complete Obama Timeline February 2016 on February 1
The Complete Obama Timeline February 2016 On February 1, 2016 more than $100 billion in assets is released to Iran. (The White House had claimed it would be only $50 billion. One or both of the two parties is lying.) [87369, 87380, 87381, 87405] The Sun reports that Great Britain “is home to more than 3 million Muslims for the first time ever with more than half born outside the UK, according to new figures. Soaring immigration and sky high birth rates have seen the number in the country double in a little over a decade. Some parts of London are now almost 50 per cent Islamic, according to analysis from the Office for National Statistics. If current trends continue the areas could become majority Muslim within ten years. …Followers of Islam now make up one in every 20 people within the country.” (The process is “birth jihad” or “stealth jihad.” Muslims take over an area first via immigration, both legal and illegal, and they then dominate the culture as a result of their phenomenal birth rates— all the while collecting welfare benefits funded by taxpayers who fear being shamed as “Islamophobes” if they object. Parts of Europe are being destroyed in the process.) [87371, 87372] Workers at a refugee center in Sweden are banned from holding a memorial service for co- worker Alexandra Mezher, who was killed by a migrant, in order to “secure the well-being of the children.” (Translation: “We do not want to upset the Muslim refugees or let them think killing Swedes is not an acceptable pastime.”) [87427, 87429] CNN reports that leftist billionaire George Soros has donated $6 million to Hillary Clinton’s political action committee (PAC). -
