A coup sûr, les nostalgiques du « old » THEATRE OF TRAGEDY vont s’y retrouver. En effet, on sent que le groupe a voulu clairement revenir aux fondamentaux. En gros, fini le gothique électronique (avec l’album Musique), fini le gothique commercial à la EVANESCENCE (avec l’album Storm). Nous retrouvons enfin notre bon vieux THEATRE OF TRAGEDY ? . Mais attention, cela ne veut pas dire qu’ils ont fait un copier-coller de l’album culte Aegis. Non, nous sommes là en présence d’un petit bijou de musique gothique vachement bien fichu, voire mieux qu’ Aegis. Effectivement, il y a les mêmes ambiances, les mêmes inspirations, mais nous avons droit à une actualisation incroyable qui donne une puissance sonore à l’album indéniable. Raymond reprend même ses jolis petits vocaux hurlés qu’il avait laissé tomber un temps durant sa carrière au sein du groupe. Difficile à croire avec tout ce que l’on sait musicalement sur THEATRE OF TRAGEDY ? A vous de jeter une oreille sur cet album et vous verrez que je ne mens pas. La différence est même flagrante entre Storm et ce petit dernier.

The nation isn't quite the same as it was during the late sixties and early seventies when the Dean Martin roasts were, by today's defintions, as unpolitically correct as a Klan gathering. However, there was always a line of respect drawn between the panel of roasters and of course, the roastees. America was a bruised country in the midst of civil rights violence, and the healing motif as mainstream culture worked itself into a mode celebrating all walks of life, race and creed culminated in hilarious back-and-forth banter at Sammy Davis, Jr. on Martin's roast. Eventually this gave sway to the era of Archie Bunker and George Jefferson, which forever changed the social tide. History lessons aside, Bill Zebub, mastermind of the east coast underground metal rag The Grimoire of Exalted Deeds, has also released a slew of independent films and documentaries. If you're familiar with some of his homegrown horror videos such as The Crucifer, Kill the Scream Queen, Dolla Morte, Bad Acid, Jesus Christ: Serial Rapist, Dirtbags and The Worst Horror Movie Ever Made, you'll attest there's no experience in underground film like a Bill Zebub experience.

Rather than simply assuming these spaces to be the opposite of the modern city, my project rejects the empty term space and instead examines topographies, literally meaning the writing of place. Less an examination of passive settings, the study of topography in modernism explores the action of creating spaces—either real or fictional which intersect with a variety of cultural, social, historical, and often political reverberations. The combination of charged elements coalesce and form a strong visual, corporeal, and sensory-filled topography that becomes integral to understanding not only the text and its importance beyond literary studies. My study pairs four modernists—two writing in German and two in English: Joseph Conrad and Anna Seghers and James Joyce and Uwe Johnson. All writers, having experienced displacement through exile, used topographies in their narratives to illustrate not only their understanding of history and humanity, but they also wrote narratives which concerned a larger global ii community.
