Catalonia Hotels & Resorts is a family hotel chain with urban hotels, and resorts in major destinations and privileged locations. It is one of the reference chains in Spain, leader in the city of Barcelona with an offer of over 3,000 rooms.
The company currently has more than 70 establishments located in 20 different destinations with an important presence in Spain and the Caribbean, and a growing expansion into top European urban destinations.
PERFORMANCE AND PHILOSOPHY
Catalonia Hotels & Resorts has reached 9.500 rooms following its discretion and caution development strategy. This policy line has made the company to evolution in a very positive way: 90 % of the hotels are owned by the chain and the remaining 10% are operated through renting or managing agreements.
At the beginning of 2013 Catalonia Hotels & Resorts began to consider the managing agreements as a new business model to grow. This new formula allows to centralize the brand integration and to optimze resources to the setting of quality standars. This standard brings some expense reductions and takes profit of an important commercial network from the company

This philosophy means comfort, quality and professionality to all services provided by Catalonia Hotels & Resorts. HISTORIC BUILDINGS IN THE CENTER OF THE URBAN DISTRICT
The hotel chain maintains an outstanding desire to rehabilitate buildings that have historic value located in the center of the cities where they can establish their hotels.
In the historic center of Barcelona we find several examples of this tendency: the Catalonia Berna is a building that was built in 1864 and categorized as a historic monument; the Catalonia Plaça Catalunya is another modern construction from the end of the XIX century; the Catalonia Portal de l’Angel is a former palace with a neoclasic style built in 1872, which is included in the historic heritage catalog of Barcelona.
Other examples are the Catalonia Born, Catalonia Port or the Catalonia Catedral. When it comes to Madrid, the two hotels most recently inaugurated in 2011 also follow this tendency: the Catalonia Plaza Mayor or the Catalonia Atocha, hotels that have a splendid façade from the beginning of the XXth century. Also, in Madrid there is the Catalonia Las Cortes, a hotel located in a former palace which includes original elements of the era such as paintings and frescos, or the Catalonia Goya, located in a building from the XIXth century located in the center of the Salamanca neighborhood, one of the best commercial and business areas of the Spanish capital.
Other examples are the Catalonia Gran Via, a modernist building from the beginning of the last century or the Catalonia Puerta del Sol, a construction from the XVIII century categorized as a historic complex of the Madrid villa. It is important to point out that in Zaragoza the Catalonia El Pilar is a beautiful hotel located in a building that serves as a reference of the modernist period in Zaragoza from the beginning of the XXIst century located by the Plaza and the Pilar Basílica. AN EXTENSIVE OFFER IN THE CARIBBEAN
In 1998 Catalonia inagurated their first resort in the Dominican Republic. Only eight years later, they expanded to 7 more hotels in the Caribbean area. With 4 hotels in Bávaro Beach and four in the Mayan Riviera, Catalonia Hotels & Resorts can accommodate almost 6,000 guests between Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The resorts of 4 and 5 stars offer all inclusive service, which represents a high percentage of the total sales of the hotel chain. In the last few years these establishments comprise the 40% of the total invoice of the company.
