I am proud to introduce the Gas Legislation Amendment (Medical Gas Systems) Bill 2020. The bill delivers on the New South Wales Government's promise to introduce a robust and effective licensing regulatory system for persons who carry out medical gas work. As I said on 18 June on behalf of the Government in opposing the Hon. Mark Buttigieg's private member's bill, nobody wants to see a tragedy repeated like the one we saw at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. As I undertook then, the Government has taken the steps necessary to provide a strong, robust licensing framework for those persons installing and working on medical gases in New South Wales. To the families of John Ghanem and Amelia Khan, on behalf of the Government I repeat my commitment that we are taking action to ensure no other families will have to endure as they have. The bill forms a key part of the Government's response to licensed work for medical gases that are supplied in medical facilities in New South Wales.

    Children’s Festival Organisation Inc. 2017 - 2018 ANNUAL REPORT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REVESBY WORKERS’ CLUB AGM29 July 2018 President’s Report I would like to start by acknowledging the traditional owners of this land and pay my respects to the elders past and present. I would also like to acknowledge the presence of the Advisory Committee and the Management Committee today. I warmly welcome you all to our AGM in this beautiful environment, thanks to the generosity of Revesby Workers' Club. It is with much pleasure that I present the President’s report for the year ended 31st May 2018 at our Annual General Meeting here today. It has been another great year of achievements. First of all, our Nineteenth Children’s Festival in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown on the 17th of September last year attracted thousands of participants, thanks to the tireless efforts of all involved. Our fifth Children’s Festival in the City of Sydney was also a huge success. This festival was again proclaimed the biggest event in the “Living in Harmony Festival 2018” staged by the City of Sydney. The Children’s Festival in Sydney was something to treasure for the international students working with us and for the tourists arriving in Sydney at the International Passenger Terminal. Hopefully the experience will inspire the students to continue community service wherever they live, whether it’s in Australia or in their home countries. May I congratulate Mai, Mark, and Kana and their respective teams for their magnificent effort in making our various events big successes. The details of our two festivals held during the year 2017-2018 can be found in the reports of our Chairpersons.

Our local media has publicised that Superintendent Griffiths has been moved from the Sutherland Shire Police Area Command into the St George Police Area Command. Those of us who have had the opportunity to work with the superintendent, and to know him well, are going to miss him dearly. Media reports have not captured that Superintendent Griffiths is a capable and competent commander who has always been dedicated to serving the local community. He has done that in his capacity as a superintendent of both the Sutherland Shire Local Area Command and the merged Sutherland Shire Police Area Command over the past six years. I was recently told a story about Superintendent Griffiths which highlights the depth of his care and the lengths that he has gone to for the community. It is about the recent fires in the western part of the shire, in Menai, Alfords Point and Barden Ridge.

CHAMBER Remembrance Day 2020 On Tuesday 10 November the House agreed to suspend Standing and Sessional Orders to provide for proceedings to commence at 1.00 pm on Remembrance Day, 11 November. The later than usual starting time allowed for Members to mark Remembrance Day either in their own electorates or in the city. Votes and Proceedings: 10/11/2020, p. 905. Standing Orders 97 and 365. Members seated in the galleries Members and staff continued to observe social distancing measures that were put in place earlier in the year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order for the largest possible number of Members to participate in the final sitting period of 2020, Members were seated in the Chamber, the Speaker's Gallery, and additionally the Cooper and Northern Galleries. The Speaker advised the House that Members would not be able to speak from the upper galleries, but that they could seek the call and then proceed to the Chamber to speak.
