BALLET THEATRE OF CARMEL Welcome to the Ballet Theatre of Carmel’s 2015-2016 Season! This packet contains infor- mation to give parents a general idea of what to expect regarding their dancer’s participa- tion in BTC. Subject to Change. GENERAL SCHEDULING The rehearsal schedule is communicated via email and posted on the bulletin board near studio 1. It is subject to change so be sure that BTC emails are making it to your inbox. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS Your dancer's requirements are listed by level here http://ballettheatreofcarmel.org/ about/required-classes. - If your dancer does not meet their class requirement during a given week, you will re- ceive a reminder e-mail listing the number and type of classes to be made up. - Make-up classes can be attended either the week of or the week before an absence, as well as after the fact. So if your dancer has absences that are planned (family vacation, fi- nal exams, school presentations, etc), you can avoid an e-mail notification and spread out necessary make-up classes. - Even if you told us why your dancer will be missing class, you will still receive a notice if your dancer's total is below the requirement. - When attending make-up classes, please pick up (or remind your dancer to pick up) a make-up class form from the front desk. This will help ensure that the student’s atten- dance is marked properly in the roll book. - Occasionally you may receive an e-mail notice in error. Please let us know if this is the case, so the attendance records can be updated. Finally, remember that the purpose of the attendance policy is to ensure solid and safe dance training, with proper muscle development, mental focus, and injury prevention. We want your dancer to achieve their best! ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS FOR LEVELS1-3 Dancers in levels 1-3 have three excused absences from their regular weekly ballet class. This means that they can miss ballet three times without needing to do a make-up class (although you may do a make-up if you wish). If the dancer misses their ballet class after that, make-up classes will be required. We hope this makes BTC involvement easier and more enjoyable for your family! VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Please take a look at the shifts listed in the sign up genius http://www.signupgenius.com/ go/10c0d4eada829aa8-nutcracker1. This will be emailed to you and a copy will also be posted on the BTC bulletin board near studio 1. In addition to the needs listed on the signup genius, there may be additional needs that will be communicated to you as we ap- proach the performance. We cannot have successful productions without the help of par- ent volunteers, so please help out where you can. MARKETING Parents can have a role in advertising our productions. These warmups are a mandatory part of the performance day. Arrival - Please arrive at, not after, your dancer’s call time. This may be differ- ent from the start of rehearsal or warm-up. - At the theatre, make sure your dancer signs in at the call board. - Arrive with your dancer’s hair and make-up already done. Please see the hair and make-up guidelines if you have questions. - Arrive with your dancer already dressed in appropriate dance attire with street clothing on overtop. - Parents are not permitted in the dressing rooms. Please be prepared to drop your dancer off at their dressing room door. - Have you dancer bring a cover-up to wear when he or she is not in costume so that their performance tights and undergarments will re- main clean. A robe or pajama pants/jazz pants and a T-shirt work well. A button down shirt will keep hair from getting mussed. During the Performance Day - There is absolutely no eating in costume, even with a cover-up. - Dancers may need to bring food with them to the performance day, but it is not to be consumed in a dressing room at any time. During designated breaks, dancers may eat in the hallways with a cover-up on to protect their tights and undergarments. - Allow your dancer to bring something to do quietly during long breaks between their dances. Card games, sewing or braiding crafts, and books are good choices. Please leave expensive electronics at home, as we cannot be responsible for them. Also avoid anything that may stain or damage dance shoes, such as markers or crayons. After the Show - After the second performance, dancers WILL NOT be dismissed until their dressing rooms are clean. No exceptions will be made. Please instruct your dancer to follow all policies involving food and to keep their space tidy throughout the performance day. Clean up should not be saved for after the show! .
