Originalni radovi/Original Articles doi:10.5937/abc1802016B ———————————————————————————————————————————————-- ABC časopis urgentne medicine 2018;18:(2):16-21 UDC 616.12-008.315(497.11)"2014/2017" COBISS.SR-ID 267258380 Cirkardijalni ritam i polna distibucija srčanog zastoja Sažetak Cilj rada: Zastupljenost srčanog zastoja tokom 24 časa i učestalost u Beljić M Nikola¹ odnosu na polnu i starosnu distribuciju. -
Authenticity in Electronic Dance Music in Serbia at the Turn of the Centuries
The Other by Itself: Authenticity in electronic dance music in Serbia at the turn of the centuries Inaugural dissertation submitted to attain the academic degree of Dr phil., to Department 07 – History and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz Irina Maksimović Belgrade Mainz 2016 Supervisor: Co-supervisor: Date of oral examination: May 10th 2017 Abstract Electronic dance music (shortly EDM) in Serbia was an authentic phenomenon of popular culture whose development went hand in hand with a socio-political situation in the country during the 1990s. After the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1991 to the moment of the official end of communism in 2000, Serbia was experiencing turbulent situations. On one hand, it was one of the most difficult periods in contemporary history of the country. On the other – it was one of the most original. In that period, EDM officially made its entrance upon the stage of popular culture and began shaping the new scene. My explanation sheds light on the fact that a specific space and a particular time allow the authenticity of transposing a certain phenomenon from one context to another. Transposition of worldwide EDM culture in local environment in Serbia resulted in scene development during the 1990s, interesting DJ tracks and live performances. The other authenticity is the concept that led me to research. This concept is mostly inspired by the book “Death of the Image” by philosopher Milorad Belančić, who says that the image today is moved to the level of new screen and digital spaces. The other authenticity offers another interpretation of a work, or an event, while the criterion by which certain phenomena, based on pre-existing material can be noted is to be different, to stand out by their specificity in a new context. -

A Sweet Lullaby for World Music
A Sweet Lullaby for World Music Steven Feld T o begin, the music globalization commonplaces that are most broadly circu- lating in Western intellectual discourse as actualities or immediate predic- tions at the end of the twentieth century: 1. Music’s deep connection to social identities has been distinctively intensified by globalization. This intensification is due to the ways cultural separation and social exchange are mutually accelerated by transnational flows of technology, media, and popular culture. The result is that musical identities and styles are more visibly transient, more audibly in states of constant fission and fusion than ever before. 2. Our era is increasingly dominated by fantasies and realizations of sonic virtuality. Not only does contemporary technology make all musical worlds actually or potentially transportable and hearable in all others, but this transportability is something fewer and fewer people take in any way to be remarkable. As sonic virtuality is increasingly naturalized, everyone’s musical world will be felt and experienced as both more definite and more vague, specific yet blurred, particular but general, in place and in motion. 3. It has taken only one hundred years for sound recording technologies to amplify sonic exchange to a point that overwhelms prior and contiguous his- Thanks to Afunakwa, Deep Forest, and Jan Garbarek for the unending mix of celebration and anxiety in their recordings of Rorogwela; to Marit Lie, Odd Are Berkaak, and Hugo Zemp for their friendship, comments, and provision of documents; to Arjun Appadurai, Veit Erlmann, Lisa Hender- son, Alison Leitch, David Samuels, Tim Taylor, and Public Culture’s readers for suggestions; and to Spring 1999 colloquia audiences at Mt. -
Arhai's Balkan Folktronica: Serbian Ethno Music Reimagined for British
Ivana Medić Arhai’s Balkan Folktronica... DOI: 10.2298/MUZ1416105M UDK: 78.031.4 78.071.1:929 Бацковић Ј. Arhai’s Balkan Folktronica: Serbian Ethno Music Reimagined for British Market* Ivana Medić1 Institute of Musicology SASA (Belgrade) Abstract This article focuses on Serbian composer Jovana Backović and her band/project Arhai, founded in Belgrade in 1998. The central argument is that Arhai made a transition from being regarded a part of the Serbian ethno music scene (which flourished during the 1990s and 2000s) to becoming a part of the global world music scene, after Jovana Backović moved from her native Serbia to the United Kingdom to pursue an international career. This move did not imply a fundamental change of her musical style, but a change of cultural context and market conditions that, in turn, affected her cultural identity. Keywords Arhai, Jovana Backović, world music, ethno, Balkan Folktronica Although Serbian composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Jovana Backović is only 34 years old, the band Arhai can already be considered her lifetime project. The Greek word ‘Arhai’ meaning ‘beginning’ or ‘ancient’ it is aptly chosen to summarise Backović’s artistic mission: rethinking tradition in contemporary context. Нer interest in traditional music was sparked by her father, himself a professional musician and performer of both traditional and popular folk music (Medić 2013). Backović founded Arhai in Belgrade in 1998, while still a pupil at music school Slavenski, and continued to perform with the band while receiving instruction in classical composition and orchestration at the Belgrade Faculty of Music. In its first, Belgrade ‘incarnation’, Arhai was a ten-piece band that developed a fusion of traditional music from the Balkans with am bient sounds and jazz-influenced improvisation, using both acoustic and electric instruments and a quartet of fe male vocalists. -

Box 1346 Ann Arbor, Ml 4 8 1 0 6 - 1346 ABSTRACT In the sphere of Malay and Indonesian literature, it is only re cently that students of oral narratives have paid attention to their character as oral performances, and this thesis is the first study of a West Sumatran metrical narrative to take that aspect of it into account. Versions of the story of Anggun Nan Tungga exist in manuscript and printed form, and are performed as dramas and sung narratives in two parts of West Sumatra: the coastal region of Tiku and Pariaman and the inland area around Payakumbuh. Stgobang is the sung narrative form heard in the Payakumbuh area. It is performed on festive occasions by paid story-tellers called tukang s'igobang,, who le a r n th e s to r y m ainly from oral sources. -
