NORTHERN LONGHORN BREEDERS SUMMER OUTING 2010 Visit to the BROOMFIELD LONGHORN HERD Sunday, 22nd August, 2010 – 10.30 am prompt – 4.00 pm approx. By kind invitation of Graham Willey and family, Please bring wellies and waterproofs. Meet at The Bairns Pub, Leadgate Cottage, Chopwell, Newcastle upon Tyne. NE17 7AU at 10.30 a.m. for coffee and biscuits. The family have numerous enterprises as well as the Longhorn herd and the recently acquired Bairns Pub. We will have a chance to visit and hear about these, they include a green waste recycling business, a green burial ground and a dairy. The dairy herd is in the middle of changing from Holsteins to French Montbeliards There will be a BBQ and salad lunch at the pub costing £10 a head, pay on the day. The aim is of course to promote the Longhorn Breed so please feel free to bring anyone you feel might be interested in the event even if they are not Longhorn Society Members. I WISH TO ATTEND THE VISIT TO THE BROOMFIELD HERD of LONGHORNS on SUNDAY, 22nd AUGUST (PRINT NAME AND CONTACT PHONE NUMBER/E-MAIL ADDRESS …………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………… NUMBERS ATTENDING……………………………(directions overleaf) FROM THE WEST: Take the A69 to Hexham, when you get to the Hexham roundabout go straight across and continue on the A69 to the next (Styford) roundabout and take the third exit to Stocksfield and Prudhoe. Continue for one mile to the next roundabout and take the first exit again following signs to Stocksfield and Prudhoe and leave that roundabout on the A695. Follow the road through Stocksfield at the second set of pedestrian traffic lights, just before the Esso garage turn right into New Ridley road, stay on this for about a mile and at the end of the houses turn left at a sign saying Hedley. Follow this windy road for about a mile, then carry on through the village of Hedley on the Hill after that continue for about another two miles till you come across six houses on the right hand side of the road opposite a farm on the left of the roadside. The Bairns pub is on the right at the end of the row of houses. FROM THE SOUTH ON THE A1: Pass the Metro Centre and take the Blaydon turn off, follow signs for Blaydon but after the second roundabout make sure you are in the right hand lane, take A695 to Blaydon and follow directions from the A695 as below. FROM THE NORTH ON THE A1: Also the slip road for Blaydon, keep in the middle land and take the second exit off the first roundabout, then stay in the right hand lane to approach the second roundabout, keep in the right hand lane go over a bridge and stay in the right hand lane. You are now on the A695 and follow signs to Blaydon and directions from the A695 as below. A1 NORTH AND SOUTH FROM BLAYDON: Continue along the dual carriage way past the speed camerand (50mph). Approach the roundabout in the middle lane take 2 exit follow the A695 stPrudhoe and Greenside up the hill at the next roundabout take the 1 exit. Follow the road, straight over the traffic lights. Keep following the road through Greenside for about 1mile just past the flashing 30 sign bear right signed Chopwell follow the road through Coalburns past the Fox and Hounds pub continue on road for further 1.5miles the road bears round to right signed Hedley the pub is just past the bend on the left. .
