The aesthetic range of ceramics is broad, from humble bowls to ornate figures. This exhibition features a glimpse into the many styles and functions of ceramics as well as the forming, glazing, and firing practices that distinguish the medium throughout history. Ceramics are one of the oldest human activities and also one of the most technically challenging crafts to master. Unlike a painting where forms develop with each brushstroke, the outcome of ceramics is not immediate. It is only at the end, after the firing is complete, when the final result is revealed.
