The 2020 Games are also the first time that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has enabled the Organising Committee to propose additional sports for that edition of the Olympic Games. The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee proposed the five additional sports of Baseball/Softball, Karate, Skateboarding, Sport Climbing and Surfing.     Tia Hellebaut – Case study Who? Tia Hellebaut is a retired Belgian track and field athlete, who started out in the heptathlon and afterwards specialized in the high jump event. She won multiple European Championships in high jump as well as a world title in Heptathlon. She also won gold in the high jump at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, setting a new outdoor personal best of 2.05m. Her achievement represented the first athletics gold medal in the Olympic Games for a Belgian woman, and only the second medal of any color. Following a break in her athletic career in which she gave birth to two daughters, she returned to competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London where she placed 5th in the high jump. She also finished in the top 3 in every Diamond League Meeting in which she participated in 2012.     Tokyo 2020 Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Sustainability Plan Version 2 June 2018 The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Preface Sustainability Plan The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Sustainability Plan (hereinafter referred to as the “Plan”) has been developed by the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (hereinafter referred to as the “Tokyo 2020”): ・ (while) Respecting the approach to focus on sustainability and legacy in all aspects of the Olympic Games and within the Olympic Movement’s daily operations outlined in Olympic Agenda 20201, ・ To maximise consideration for sustainability of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games (hereinafter referred to as the “Tokyo 2020 Games” or simply the “Games”, if appropriate), and ensure that the delivery of the Games contributes to sustainable development.
