The Academy was very positive and helped improve the relationship with the players and football coaches who were also part of the weekend.

2011 ASB NATIONAL MEN’S YOUTH ANSWERS FROM REFNEWS 11 DECEMBER 2011 1. You consult your Assistant Referee over an off-the- LEAGUE - FINAL ball incident. Players crowd around and as you ask them to leave your AR shouts at them aggressively using foul language. What now? Referees must remain calm and composed. Move the players away. Deal with the AR’s report. Dispense with his services, organise a replacement and report the matter to the authorities. You should also advise the captains of the action you have taken with the AR. 2. A striker jinks past the opposing goalkeeper. As he is about to shoot into the unguarded net a defender, who has run into his goalkeeper, falls into the attacker and knocks him over. What do you do? While the defender’s challenge was not deliberate it was careless and it has denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Award a penalty and issue a red card. Mark Fisher, Ken Quigley, Ben Fairweather and Steven 3. A striker goes down in the box. The ball is cleared Black lead the teams out before the start of the final upfield and you whistle for full time. You then see your AR signalling for a penalty kick. He tells you the between Waitakere and Canterbury. defender blatantly held the attacker so he started signalling just as you turned away. What action do Ken Wallace you take?
