5 Abstract The exponential growth of tourism activities worldwide in recent decades has positioned the sector as one of the main tools of local development, this implies that progress must be made in the review of the processes that regulate these activities and more when aspects are involved as the use of natural spaces, as is the case with nature tourism. Therefore, this research proposal constitutes a fundamental element in the analysis of the regulatory behaviors of nature tourism in five municipalities of the Tequendama Province: Cachipay, El Colegio, La Mesa, San Antonio del Tequendama and Viotá. Initially, the nature tourism practices developed were established, identifying the tourist points of interest, the sector offer and the tour operators and providers present in the area. Subsequently, the management actions carried out by the national, regional and local institutional actors were consolidated into an analysis matrix, which allowed to trace the operability, the links and the limitations of the management of nature tourism in the study area, starting from which a map of relationships that conceptualizes the institutional context through which nature tourism management is conceived in the Province was constructed. Finally, the institutional performance of nature tourism management in the study area was evaluated, through the triangulation of the information collected in the matrix of institutional actions, the relationship map and the 12 GSTC criteria of the category “Demonstrate effective sustainable management” based on 26 evaluation indicators, as the baseline to determine if an organization bases sustainable practices. In parallel, the institutional performance was quantitatively rated using the scoring method, considering the cumulative effects of the activities carried out at the national, regional and local administrative levels that influence each municipality. In conclusion, from the analysis of the institutional performance, critical points in management were evidenced of nature tourism of the study area, which constitute a contribution to the institutional evaluation models for the construction of a functional framework that guarantees the sustainability of tourism Nature in the Tequendama Province. Keywords: Nature Tourism, Institutional Management, Institutional Evaluation, Sustainability Criteria, Tequendama Province. 6 TABLA DE CONTENIDO Introducción ............................................................................................................................. 11 Planteamiento del problema ..................................................................................................... 12 1. Nymsuque: Contemporary Muisca Indigenous Sounds in the Colombian Andes Beatriz Goubert Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY 2019 © 2019 Beatriz Goubert All rights reserved ABSTRACT Nymsuque: Contemporary Muisca Indigenous Sounds in the Colombian Andes Beatriz Goubert Muiscas figure prominently in Colombian national historical accounts as a worthy and valuable indigenous culture, comparable to the Incas and Aztecs, but without their architectural grandeur. The magnificent goldsmith’s art locates them on a transnational level as part of the legend of El Dorado. Today, though the population is small, Muiscas are committed to cultural revitalization. The 19th century project of constructing the Colombian nation split the official Muisca history in two. A radical division was established between the illustrious indigenous past exemplified through Muisca culture as an advanced, but extinct civilization, and the assimilation politics established for the indigenous survivors, who were considered degraded subjects to be incorporated into the national project as regular citizens (mestizos). More than a century later, and supported in the 1991’s multicultural Colombian Constitution, the nation-state recognized the existence of five Muisca cabildos (indigenous governments) in the Bogotá Plateau, two in the capital city and three in nearby towns. As part of their legal battle for achieving recognition and maintaining it, these Muisca communities started a process of cultural revitalization focused on language, musical traditions, and healing practices. Today’s Muiscas incorporate references from the colonial archive, archeological collections, and scholars’ interpretations of these sources into their contemporary cultural practices.

In accordance with an indication given to me by Mrs, Walcott in discussing these matters a number of years ago, the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution has set aside the first proceeds derived from these sales as a special fund in Mrs. Walcott's name for publications dealing with the science of botany. It is anticipated that these studies will be mainly technical in nature and will relate to researches made principally in the United States National Herbarium, in which Mrs. Walcott was so deeply interested.

The conquests of Peru and Mexico are known to everyone. The Aztec and the Inca empires are generally assumed to have been the only two states in the Indies the con- querors found, that were well organized, and had evolved, or were evolving, a civilized society. The story of their conquest reads like a fairy-tale, and Pizarro and Cortes are taken as the archetypes of the conquerors. The history of the conquest of New Granada—that is, Colombia—^has passed almost unnoticed as far as English letters are con- cerned. Quesada's name is fallen into oblivion, even in Spain itself. Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada was as great as were Pizarro or Cort6s, confronted equal perils and endured far greater hardships, conquering an empire just as interesting as was Peru or Mexico, far more remote and inaccessible.

The aim of this work was to analyze genetically the Checua group according to mitochondrial DNA HVR-I sequence data. Following strict criteria of authenticity for studies of ancient DNA, extracted DNA was amplified and sequenced for each of the human remains. Twelve of the 22 human remains from Checua were successfully assessed (54.54%) in this study. Paleo-Colombian Checua revealed the Native American haplogroups A2, B2 and C1, plus the rare haplogroup D4h3a, reported for the first time in ancient Colombia. Comparison between Paleo-American and modern Colombian genetic data demonstrates the continuity of A2, B2, and C1, and a probable discontinuity of D4h3a since prehistoric times in Colombia, if not a shortage of D4h3a records in the literature and/or databases, while D1 is present in modern Colombia.

La laguna House For Sale Colombia, Gualivá Province, Villeta POA € QUICK SPEC Year of Construction 2019 Bedrooms 5 Half Bathrooms Full Bathrooms 5 Interior Surface approx 650 m2 - 6,996 Sqf.Ft Exterior Surface approx POA m2 - POA Sqf.Ft Parking 3 Cars Property Type Single Family Home TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS This the house is located on a steeply sloping terrain in a warm climate. The topographic staging is sought to take full advantage of, in order to generate a strategy regarding ecological factors and bioclimatic use. This is done by generating a water reservoir that functions as a bio-wildlife passage, which landscape-wise is the centre from which the design is generated. The placement of this lagoon is projected on the flattest part of the lot, taking advantage of its minimal depth and the natural shape of the land as a topographic collector and steerer of rainwater. The morphology of the lot allowed us to generate a proposal around a reservoir to create a microclimate and an appropriate cohesion between the constructed and the natural, reducing the footprint of exertion and construction on the site. the house was located above the water level, thus allowing the natural runoff of the water on the site. This conduction and the free circulation of water occur through a couple of waterfalls that help the oxygenation of the reservoir, thus maintaining its apt level and circulation. Due to the steep slope, these channels in constructive terms help to drive the water away from the house and function as an architectural landscape solution using a lagoon as the central body.
