Service Overview IBM SurePOS™ ACE V6 is a comprehensive point of sale (POS) application designed to work with existing IBM POS systems and technologies. Through the open, Web-based architecture of the Store Integration Framework (SIF), coupled with the Store Integrator GUI (SI GUI), customers are better able to implement solutions through a common, standards-based store framework into which new functions can be integrated. Key prerequisites Refer to the Technical information section for details. Planned availability date June 8, 2007 IBM United States Announcement 207-094 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1 Description IBM SurePOS ACE V6 includes all the functions previously announced in V5, as well as the following new functions: • Complex Password Management ACE V6 has been modified to help retailers meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) for access control. This allows the retailer to address stricter password security requirements. The options included in this product can also help address the PCI DSS requirements. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls. • Enhanced Check MICR Operator Guidance This new function allows for more validation of MICR data from a check. It also allows the retailer to configure the number of MICR reads to be attempted. In addition, it gives additional guidance to the operator when the MICR data cannot be successfully processed from the 4610 MICR reader. These new functions provide retailers with more information when trying to decide whether or not a check should be taken at the cash register. • Cashier Birth Date Support The cashier's birth date is now stored in the system and their information is used when they try to sell age restricted items, such as alcohol. The system will allow the retailer to check to confirm that the selling cashier is old enough to sell the item. This provides the retailer the ability to use the system to assist in complying with regulations regarding the sale of restricted items. In addition, overrides of cashier age verification will be viewable so a store can use it to help determine if there is a potential compliance issue. • Price Override for Reduced Price on Rainchecks This provides the store a way to give customers the sale price for an item when a customer brings in a raincheck which contains a sale price for that item after the sale is over. The customer is able to get the sale price on the item, and the store has a consistent way to not only redeem rain check items, but to also track the frequency of the rain checks being redeemed. • Extension of Daylight Savings Time (DST) in 2007 This function helps retailers update their systems for the new DST dates. • Image Both Sides of Check This captures an image of both the front and back of the check using a model TI-9 4610 printer. The ability to provide an image of both sides of a check gives the retailer the ability to have a complete electronic version of the check. • ACE Enablement of SI Virtual Sessions on Backup Controller When SI is being used in conjunction with ACE, the virtual sessions are automatically transferred from the failing controller to the backup controller. This helps provide less disruption to retailers. • Local Suspend/Retrieve ACE V6 provides support for transaction suspend and retrieve files when the File Server Controller is unavailable. • Suspend/Retrieve File Size This item adds the capability to alter the Suspend/Retrieve Keyed Index file size with a new Personalization option. With this new option, users can customize the file size for Suspend/Retrieve Keyed Index files to support a larger number of suspend/retrieves in the store. ACE EPS V6 includes all the functions previously announced in V5 and the following new IBM United States Announcement 207-094 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 2 functions: • Activate Value Cards after Tender This adds an optional flag for the merchant. It allows the merchant to select whether they want value cards to be sent to the host for activation or reload during the sales transaction, or wait until after the final transaction tender has been approved. This feature helps retailers reduce the opportunity for fraud by controlling activation of the gift card until the tender is approved. • Print Value Card Receipt This provides the ability to print out a separate activation receipt, as well as a value card receipt on a value card sale. The activation receipt allows the customer to see the value card has been activated. • Add Support for Pay By Touch on VeriFone Omni 7000 PIN Pad The Pay By Touch (PBT®) system provides customers with electronic wallet capabilities using authentication with biometrics. This enhancement adds PBT support for the VeriFone Omni 7000 PIN pad. • Add Support for Hypercomm L4200 and L4250 PIN Pads ACE EPS V6 now supports the Hypercomm L4200 and the L4250 PIN pads. This provides the retailer with additional PIN pad choices. • Add Support for VeriFone MX870 PIN Pads The VeriFone model MX870 PIN pad is supported by ACE EPS V6. This provides the retailer additional PIN pad choices. • TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance (ECA) and TeleCheck CashIt! Service The Buypass Host Interface has been enhanced to support check transactions to FDC's TeleCheck services. The TeleCheck services supported include ECA and CashIt!. ECA offers the convenience of electronic check deposits. It also provides check authorization if electronic check deposit cannot be accomplished. CashIt! offers the capability of authorizing the cashing of a check via the ACE Tender Cashing function. Note: IBM provides no representation or warranty of third party products.
