COMMUNIQUÉ Pour Publication Immédiate COMMUNIQUÉ Pour publication immédiate Mobilisation majeure pour le maintien des services à l’Aéroport régional de Rouyn-Noranda Rouyn-Noranda, le 18 juin 2018. La Ville de Rouyn-Noranda ainsi que de nombreux partenaires régionaux et nationaux étaient réunis en conférence de presse à l’Aéroport régional de Rouyn-Noranda afin de rappeler d’une voix unanime leurs préoccupations quant à une éventuelle réduction des services d’information de vol de nuit de NAV CANADA (NAV). Dans une étude aéronautique déposée à Transports Canada, NAV recommande une réduction des heures d’ouverture de sa station d’information de vol (FSS) entre 6 h et 22 h, une situation jugée inacceptable : « Les conséquences possibles pour la sécurité des usagers sont très préoccupantes. NAV nous transfère ses responsabilités tout en sachant que nous ne possédons pas l’expertise nécessaire pour assurer la sécurité des transporteurs et des usagers. D’autre part, nous craignons les impacts économiques de cette décision, alors que des investissements gouvernementaux de l’ordre de 40 M$ sont prévus d’ici 2020 pour la construction de notre nouvelle aérogare », souligne la mairesse de Rouyn-Noranda, Mme Diane Dallaire. D’un point de vue économique, la principale crainte est de voir certains transporteurs aériens choisir de quitter la région ou modifier leur modèle d’opération face au risque d’opérer sans services consultatifs. Les répercussions seront non seulement néfastes pour les entreprises, mais également pour le maintien et la qualité de la desserte à l’ensemble de la population. « Ces changements pourraient également affecter les évacuations médicales. Notre aéroport est une plaque tournante pour le Service aérien gouvernemental qui opère Valentine et pour la compagnie Propair qui effectue les évacuations pour le Nord », ajoute la mairesse. Bien que des récents contacts avec le bureau du ministre des Transports du Canada, l’Honorable Marc Garneau, permettent d’être confiants que les préoccupations seront entendues, la mobilisation des acteurs concernés vient réaffirmer l’ampleur de cet enjeu, tant au niveau régional que national. …2 - 2 - L’Abitibi-Témiscamingue et tout le Québec sont touchés « Notre région s’est positionnée au cours des années comme un pôle aérien important au Québec et comme une courroie indispensable avec le Nord. Dans ce cadre, les préfet(e)s jugent inconcevable de réduire le service essentiel de NAV pour les aéroports de la région. De plus, advenant une décision en ce sens, il est manifeste que cela affectera le développement de notre région ainsi que de nombreux projets », affirme Mme Claire Bolduc, présidente de la Conférence des préfets de l’Abitibi- Témiscamingue. Dans une lettre d’appui destinée au ministre Garneau, M. Daniel Côté, maire de Gaspé et président du comité sur le transport aérien de l’Union des municipalités du Québec, rappelle que « les aéroports régionaux sont des infrastructures névralgiques pour la vitalité et l’occupation du territoire, et c’est en assurant la sécurité de leurs usagers qu’ils peuvent jouer pleinement leur rôle d’acteurs économiques. » Des transporteurs inquiets Si dans son étude déposée à Transport Canada, NAV arrive à la conclusion que les services d’information de vol de nuit ne sont pas nécessaires pour la sécurité ou l’efficacité de l’exploitation des aéronefs, sur le terrain, le son de cloche est différent. « La fermeture de la FSS de nuit à Rouyn-Noranda va complexifier grandement nos opérations en les rendant moins sécuritaires. En proposant de remplacer les services offerts par un système automatisé d'observation météorologique (AWOS), NAV ne tient pas compte des phénomènes météorologiques localisés uniquement détectables par des humains et met en danger la sécurité de nos pilotes et des usagers », déclarent M. Étienne Lambert, président directeur général de Propair et Mme Tanya Pash, chef des opérations chez Air Creebec.     Before beginning my official remarks, on behalf of everyone at Air Canada I would like to extend our sympathies to all those in Alberta affected by the wildfires burning there. This tragedy is brought even closer to home here because of the many Nova Scotians working in Fort MacMurray and in the oil sand fields. We are executing a plan to transport those fleeing the fires from Edmonton or Calgary to their destinations and to support relief efforts. To date we have already added the equivalent of 31 of our A320s, or more than 11 of our Boeing 777 aircraft to assist with getting people home and we will continue monitor demand to ensure mobile workers from Alberta can get home from Edmonton or Calgary at our very lowest fares. We will also be there to help when Nova Scotians travel to go back to work in Alberta which we all hope will be sooner rather than later. Good morning and thank you everyone for taking time to attend our annual general meeting today. It is my great pleasure to be in Halifax with you, particularly as this year marks 75 years since Trans Canada Air Lines first flew to Halifax, linking this city to the rest of Canada. Moreover it is fitting that we hold today’s meeting at Pier 21 in this year during which we proudly supported the Canadian government’s Syrian refugee initiative with special flights to Jordan and Turkey, welcoming close to 4,000 immigrants to their new home.
