SEPTEMBER 2017 MARKETWATCH Information from Cartus on Relocation and International Assignment Trends and Practices. HONG KONG Up-to-date information on the residential rental market, international schooling and visa/immigration regulations in Hong Kong RESIDENTIAL LEASING MARKET In recent years, rental fees for small- and medium-sized properties have increased, while rental fees for large and/or luxury properties have decreased. However, the first quarter of 2017 bucked the trend as all property types saw rental fee increases. According to the Hong Kong government’s Rating and Valuation Department—Rental Indices, average rent by class recorded a 2% increase for Class A-C properties and a 1.1% increase for the larger Class D-E properties. Due to Hong Kong’s strong seller’s market, many landlords are opting to sell their properties rather than lease them, leading to limited stock and increased rental amounts. Properties priced between HK$30,000 and HK$80,000 remain Despite the Hong Kong government’s property cooling popular among expatriates. However, a 3% to 5% increase has measures, which increased stamp duty tax on home purchases, been forecast this year. it is expected that home prices will continue to increase due to strong domestic demand. Occupancy rates for properties in excess of HK$150,000 are slowly creeping up, although demand is not as high as their Serviced Apartments/Hotels cheaper counterparts. With limited demand in this price The recent opening of several new serviced apartments has range, it is expected that rent will, at least even out or show increased supply. As a result, serviced apartment occupancy has a small 1% to 2% increase.

  • Social Interactions and the Dynamics of Protest Movements
Persistent Political Engagement: Social Interactions and the Dynamics of Protest Movements Leonardo Bursztyn Davide Cantoni David Y. Yang Noam Yuchtman Y. Jane Zhang* September 2020 Abstract We study the causes of sustained participation in political movements. To identify the per- sistent effect of protest participation, we randomly, indirectly incentivize Hong Kong univer- sity students into participation in an antiauthoritarian protest. To identify the role of social networks, we randomize this treatment’s intensity across major-cohort cells. We find that in- centives to attend one protest within a political movement increase subsequent protest atten- dance, but only when a sufficient fraction of an individual’s social network is also incentivized to attend the initial protest. One-time mobilization shocks have dynamic consequences, with mobilization at the social network level important for sustained political engagement. Appendix III (Page 1 of 4) Re-organization of CTB 76 I. Details of Existing Services of CTB 76 Route No. 76 Terminating Points Shek Pai Wan Estate Public Transport Interchange – Causeway Bay (Moreton Terrace) Morning Peak 15 - 30 minutes Headway Full Fare Per Single $5.0 Trip Service Hours From Shek Pai Wan Estate Public Transport Interchange: From 6.00 am to 7.00pm daily From Causeway Bay (Moreton Terrace): From 6.45 am to 7.45 pm daily Number of Vehicles 1 air-conditioned double decker and 3 air-conditioned single deckers II. Background CTB 76 operates between Shek Pai Wan and Causeway Bay (Moreton Terrace). It is a socially essential service for passengers along Stubbs Road, Wong Nai Chung Gap Road, Deep Water Bay Road and Nam Fung Road. There is a need to improve its operation efficiency as the patronage of this route is persistently low. The patronage of CTB 76 along Tung Lo Wan Road and Moreton Terrace is only about 10%. Owing to the traffic congestion in the vicinity of the above roads as well as Causeway Road, the journeys are often delayed unnecessarily. III. The Proposal In light of the above, it is proposed to truncate Route 76 to Causeway Bay (Pennington Street) and convert it as a circular route. The headway during school holidays will be also adjusted. Details are as follows: Route No. 76 Terminating Points Shek Pai Wan Estate Public Transport Interchange – Causeway Bay (Pennington Street) (Circular) Routes From Shek Pai Wan Estate Public Transport Interchange: Yue Kwong Road, Aberdeen Reservoir Road, Aberdeen Main Road, Aberdeen Praya Road, Wong Chuk Hang Road, Nam Fung Road, Deep Water Bay Road, Wong Nai Chung Gap Road, Stubbs Road, Queen's Road East, Morrison Hill Road, Leighton Road, Pennington Street, Yee Wo Street, Leighton Road, Morrison Hill Road, Queen's Road East, Stubbs Road, Wong Nai Chung Gap Road, Deep Water Bay Road, Nam Fung Road, Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen Praya Road, flyover, Aberdeen Main Road, Aberdeen Reservoir Road and Yue Kwong Road.
