This paper aims to seek Members’ views on the proposed amendments to the Road Improvement Works (“RIW”) following the presentation by the representatives of Hopewell Holdings Limited to Wan Chai District Council on 10 January 2017 regarding the latest development scheme of Hopewell Centre II and the associated RIW amendments. BACKGROUND 2. The original RIW was gazetted in April 2009 and authorized by the Chief Executive in Council in July 2010. The RIW comprises three parts; namely road widening at Kennedy Road, road widening at the junction of Queen’s Road East and Kennedy Road, and road widening at the junction of Spring Garden Lane and Queen’s Road East Note 1. Please refer to the Key Plan in 2009 Gazette at Appendix 1. 3. In order to preserve more trees, during the detailed design of the road work, Hopewell Holdings Limited proposed to amend the RIW at Kennedy Road and at the junction of Queen’s Road East and Kennedy Road. The proposed amendments to the RIW have been submitted to the relevant Government departments for comment and are considered acceptable in principle. On 11 August 2017, the planning application (No. A/H5/408) of the latest development scheme of Hopewell Centre II was approved with conditions by the Metro Planning Committee of the Town Planning Board including an approval condition on the design and implementation of the related RIW.

    L.N. 121 of 2003 Declaration of Constituencies (District Councils) Order 2003 (Made by the Chief Executive in Council under section 6 of the District Councils Ordinance (Cap. 547)) 1. Commencement This Order shall--- (a) come into operation on 10 July 2003 for the purpose only of enabling arrangements to be made for the holding of the District Council ordinary election in 2003; and (b) in so far as it has not come into operation under paragraph (a), come into operation on 1 January 2004. 2. Interpretation In this Order--- "approved map" (獲批准㆞圖), in relation to any District, means the map or any of the maps of that District--- (a) submitted together with the report referred to in section 18(1)(b) of the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance (Cap. 541) by the Electoral Affairs Commission to the Chief Executive on 22 April 2003; (b) specified in column 3 of the Schedule; (c) identified by reference to a plan number (Plan No.) prefixed "DCCA"; (d) approved by the Chief Executive in Council on 13 May 2003; and (e) copies of which are deposited in the respective offices of the Electoral Registration Officer and the Designated Officer; "constituency boundary" (選區分界), in relation to an area declared to be a constituency in this Order, means--- (a) the boundary represented in the relevant approved map by the unbroken edging coloured red delineating, or partially delineating, that area and described as "Constituency Boundary" in the legend of that map; or (b) where any part of a district boundary joins or abuts any boundary partially delineating that area as mentioned in paragraph (a), or circumscribes or otherwise partially delineates that area--- (i) that part of that district boundary; and (ii) that boundary partially delineating that area as so mentioned; "district boundary" (㆞方行政區分界), in relation to any District, means the boundary of the District area delineated as mentioned in section 3(1) of the Ordinance which is represented in the relevant approved map by the broken edging coloured red and described as "District Boundary" in the legend of that map.

    2nd September 2014 Wan Chai District Council Information Paper Food and Environmental Hygiene Committee Paper No.30/2014 Food and Environmental Hygiene Department Anti-mosquito Campaign 2014 (Phase III) in Wan Chai District Purpose The purpose of this paper is to brief Members of the details and arrangements for the Anti-mosquito Campaign 2014 (Phase III) to be launched by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) in Wan Chai District. Background 2. The Anti-mosquito Campaign 2014 (Phase II) organized by FEHD was launched between 28.4.2014 and 4.7.2014. Actions taken in the district and the results are detailed at Annex I . 3. Last year, there were two local, three imported and one unclassified Japanese encephalitis cases, 103 imported dengue fever cases and 5 imported chikungunya fever cases in Hong Kong. On the other hand, one local Japanese encephalitis case had been reported in June this year. In order to safeguard public health and to sustain anti-mosquito efforts, FEHD will continue to strengthen mosquito control and organize the Anti-mosquito Campaign 2014 (Phase III) for eight consecutive weeks from 18.8.2014 to 10.10.2014. 4. The Anti-mosquito Campaign 2014 (Phase III) to be carried out under - 1 - the slogan “ Prevent Japanese Encephalitis and Dengue Fever Act Now! ” aims to achieve the following objectives - (a) To heighten public awareness of the potential risk of dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis, chikungunya fever and other mosquito-borne diseases; (b) To encourage community participation and forge close partnership of government departments concerned in anti-mosquito work; and (c) To eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites .
