Parramatta Park Conservation and Management Plan 3 FINAL 1 Executive summary Significance Parramatta Park (the Park) is of exceptional cultural significance to Australia, NSW and the City of Parramatta because: It contains evidence of remnant vegetation of the Cumberland Plain Woodland. It is the core of the territory of the Burramatta clan of the Darug. It is an enduring symbol of early European settlement in Australia. It is evidence of 18th Century Parramatta. It is a place of early Government enterprise. It is the domain of the oldest surviving Government House in Australia. It is Governor and Mrs Macquarie’s landscaped park and estate. It is the site of 19th Century and 20th Century recreation and public sporting activities. It is a major green space landmark and public recreation area for the people of Parramatta. Of its substantial surviving fabric (extant and archaeological) and the substantial body of historical material documenting its historical development. Of its association with various individuals and organisations. Key policies The primary responsibility of Parramatta Park Trust is the conservation and interpretation of the Park’s heritage, improvement of amenities and the provision of visitor services. The Park landscape will be managed to recognise all periods of its use and to enhance and interpret its cultural significance. A major use of the Park will continue to be as a place for recreation, sport and entertainment. The Park’s natural systems will be protected, restored and regenerated. The Park boundaries will be protected from encroachments and developments which compromise its significance. There will be no further excisions from the Park including land for easements (except where such easements relate specifically to PPT functions). Opportunities for return of lands previously excised from the Park will be sought. Purpose of this plan This Management Plan is a combined management and conservation plan and thus deals with specific conservation as well as operational planning issues. Over the past twenty years a large number of reports have been prepared on the conservation and management of the Park and these reports still provide a significant resource base for work within the Park. The information in Parramatta Park Conservation and Management Plan 4 FINAL these reports has not been unnecessarily replicated in this document and the relevant reports should be consulted for more detail about specific sites or issues within the park.     NRL Referees Col Pearce Medal 2014 WELCOME Welcome to the 2014, 11th annual awarding of refereeing’s most prestigious prize, the Col Pearce Medal, which occurs at the culmination of the closest NRL season in history. As we are all aware, the closer any competition is, the greater the level of scrutiny on match officials and their performances. This season has been no different. The start of the season witnessed a new manager of the squad with Daniel Anderson moving to take up an opportunity as the General Manager of Football at Parramatta. As with any change of leadership this brings some level of apprehension and concern. All officials should be very proud of their efforts, dedication and commitment to the season. At the season launch early this year, I spoke about these qualities and I am confident to say that those in the squad delivered on them. For that I thank you. No official is successful without the wonderful support of their family and close friends. I thank all the partners for the support in the endless hours that the referees were away from home. Additionally, for those times when they were at home but distracted by the demands of officiating at the elite level. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my staff for their unbelievable support and hard work throughout the season. Your contribution to the success of the squad this year is immeasurable. As in any season, individuals and the group have had highs and lows but one of the most significant improvements was the level of support that the NRL Referee squad received from the NRL hierarchy including Nathan McGuirk, Todd Greenberg and Dave Smith as well as the NRL Commission.

Proposal to: increase the annual frequency of major events; and increase function space, patron numbers and timing of functions on non-event days at Bankwest Stadium September 2019 Venues NSW owns a portfolio of publicly owned sports and entertainment venues in NSW, on behalf of the NSW Government. Executive Summary Increased Frequency of Events Since Western Sydney Stadium (Bankwest Stadium) opened in April this year it has successfully conducted 21 major sporting and cultural events, welcoming in excess of 350,000 patrons. The Stadium presents as a world class facility capable of hosting a number of different major sporting, concert and cultural events. This has led to considerable interest from sporting clubs and event organisers in hosting their events at Bankwest Stadium. The Stadium is also part of a network of venues which includes the Sydney Football Stadium and Stadium Australia. The Sydney Football Stadium is currently being redeveloped, whilst the redevelopment of Stadium Australia is scheduled to commence in June 2020. The stadium redevelopment program leaves Bankwest Stadium as the only Stadium available in the network for approximately two (2) years. To ensure NSW remains competitive in the national and international sporting and event market both during the stadium network redevelopment and after its completion, Venues NSW seeks to increase the annual frequency

    Allianz Stadium Redevelopment – Key Partner Question and Answer Why is the NSW Government redeveloping stadiums at Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park and the SCG precinct? The NSW Government has invested to redevelop Sydney stadia to ensure Sydney is the sporting capital of Australia. The decision provides greater ability for the NSW Government to keep Sydney’s venues viable in order to secure the major events in NSW that can generate more jobs and economic activity. Why are we knocking down Allianz Stadium? Allianz Stadium is now 30 years old and has reached the end of its useful life. It has provided the stage for some of Australia’s biggest sporting moments including rugby league grand finals, Bledisloe Cups and FIFA World Cup qualifiers. But just as we outgrew the Sydney Sports Ground in the mid-1980s, the time has come to develop the next generation world-class rectangular stadium in Sydney’s original sporting precinct. Why are we spending so much on new stadiums when schools and hospitals should be the priority? The NSW Government’s investment of roughly $2 billion is budgeted to be spent over a period in which the health and education budgets tally more than $400 billion. The economic impact of the SCG Trust’s operations to the NSW economy is estimated at nearly $1 billion per year, with ANZ Stadium providing a similar benefit. The NSW Government’s investment in stadium infrastructure will be paid back in one year, and the new stadiums will provide an even greater economic benefit, with thousands of new jobs tied to the construction of the venues.

Additionally, since it would be used in the afternoons through to the evenings, the screen should be able to detect changes in the ambient light and adjust its brightness accordingly. The screen had to be able to cater for multiple images sources with varying resolutions (from standard to high definition).

Introduction In preparation for this submission, the team at Keep Sydney Beautiful put together a detailed timeline of the history of the Government’s Sydney stadiums strategy (the Strategy). It is attached as an appendix. Below are our main criticisms of the Strategy. Overall, the Government’s pattern of policy backflips, budget blowouts and failure to underpin its Strategy with a well considered economic and social benefit rationale undermine our confidence that the current Strategy represents best value for money and is in the best interests of the people of NSW. ● The cost of the most current Strategy is $1.5 billion higher than the original $600 million budget former premier Mike Baird took to the 2015 election. A ReachTEL poll, commissioned by The Sydney Morning ​ ​ ​ Herald in March 2018 and taken just before the Government's third ​ policy backflip, showed that almost 60% of voters opposed or strongly opposed the Government’s decision to rebuild both the Allianz Stadium at Moore Park and the ANZ Stadium at Olympic Park.

    BRISBANE REPRESENTATIVE FOOTBALL (COMBINED BRISBANE in the BULIMBA CUP, MIDWEEK NATIONAL COMPETITION, versus INTERNATIONAL TOURING SIDES, versus QLD COUNTRY & versus SYDNEY METROS) Before the Brisbane Broncos came along, Brisbane, as a representative side and composed of the best players from the clubs playing in the Brisbane rugby league competition, had a long and proud history. In the Bulimba Cup, an annual triangular competition between Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba that ran for 50 years up until 1972, Brisbane was the dominant side winning a total of 19 times (Toowoomba won 16 and Ipswich won 11 times). The competition was named after its sponsor, the Bulimba Brewery, which got its name from where it originally started in Brisbane, though it soon moved to Fortitude Valley. Though it began in 1925, Brisbane did not win their first Bulimba Cup until 1930. They won 3 titles in a row before Ipswich began to dominate in the 1930’s. Brisbane dominated in the 1940’s winning all of them except 1944 and 1945. The 1950’s was dominated by Toowoomba with Ipswich winning the only two titles that Toowoomba did not win. At its peak the Bulimba Cup drew huge crowds to Lang Park and the Gabba. The record of 25 000 was set in 1959 at Lang Park when Brisbane, Ied by test prop Henry Holloway, thrashed Ipwich 34-10 with Lionel Morgan scoring 3 tries and test fullback, Clive Churchill, who briefly moved up to Brisbane, scoring another try. Brisbane finished behind Toowoomba and Ipswich that year who played a rare final, being level on points.
