COLLABORATIVE SUMMER SUNDAY MASS SCHEDULE

In order to provide a richer and better Sunday Mass experience for the St. John-St. Paul community, and after careful consideration of last summer's Mass attendance, we have decided to implement a Summer Sunday Mass schedule for our Collaborative, beginning Sunday, July 1. With this new schedule, we anticipate a fuller church at all of our Sunday Masses this summer, which will significantly enhance our worship.

Parishioners are encouraged to attend the Masses within the collaborative that are most convenient; envelopes and checks placed in the collection basket will be sent to their home parishes. (Now would be a great time to consider online giving, if you haven't already. Online giving makes donating to your home parish simple and easy, regardless of where you are or the time of year, and this in turn provides the parish with more consistent and stable contributions. Please visit your home parish's website or call the office for more information.)

Please note that this is a temporary change for the summer months, and our Regular Sunday Mass schedule will resume after Labor Day (Sunday, September 9, 2018).

The Collaborative Summer Mass Schedule begins on

Sunday, July 1:

St. Paul Church Daily Mass 9:00am Saturday Vigil Mass 4:00pm Sunday Masses 7:30am 11:00am Confession: Saturday 3:00pm-3:45pm (or by appointment)

St. John the Evangelist Church Daily Mass 7:00am

Saturday Vigil Mass 5:00pm Sunday Masses* 7:30am 9:00am Confession: Saturday 3:30-4:00pm in the chapel (or by appointment)

*As in past years, the Sunday 5:00pm Mass at St. John ends after Memorial Day. The last Sunday 5:00pm Mass for the 2017- 2018 year will be on Sunday, May 27, 2018.

HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Chris Holownia spent 6 weeks at Sacred Heart Parish in Richmond VA during Feb-March, 2018. His work there was part of his “poverty experiment” as a Jesuit novice. He learned from this poor Latino Jesuit parish how close God is to the poor and to those who serve them.

We would like to show our support of Chris, who was the Music Director of the Family Mass at St. John’s for 10 years before he left to pursue his chosen vocation with the Jesuits, by donating new or gently used Children’s books (preK-Grade 6) to the children of Sacred Heart Parish in Richmond VA. These children are the children of DACA immigrants, who are currently learning English and hoping that their parents will gain citizenship in the United States.

Sacred Heart is a welcoming community of faith-filled Catholics struggling to help its members to gain access to healthcare, to legal services and to courses designed to help them prepare for the US Citizenship exam.

Boxes for books to be donated are located at the Glen Road and Ledyard exits of St. John Church and the Entrance of St. Paul Church. We plan to present these books to Chris during his visit on May 27th. If you would like to help but don’t have any children’s books, you could make a donation to St. John Parish and that money will be earmarked for Sacred Heart parish to help their neediest children and families. Thank you for your help.
